The ND is the single output unit with night time temperature drop feature (as already stated by Serpents_Den).

However, the Pro has this night drop temperature feature on all four of it's outputs (so it's like owning four single ND units in one package), but I'm not sure if the II does this or not.

I purchased a Pro, knowing that the other outputs would eventually get used. I am very glad I did, as I am now planning my cage stack and it's future inhabitants. I might even need another unit :O .......come to think of it, they come in a new blue LCD color, and I might need to get two of them so they match......then the one I have now can go into running the Q-Room :D .......and then....... Maybe I do have an addiction :weirdface

Ah so the ND is a step up from the Original Herpstat. Thats where I got lost.

I read on spyder robotics site that The Herpstat II does have the night drop feature as well.

    Seems to go like:

    Original < ND < II < Pro

Sorry guys but I cannot dish out $400 for a the pro right now.. It's either between the II or Original.

I have a couple of other themostats handing around for emergencies if I need them and have no problem ordering another Herpstat for my future hatchling rack. It's just too much to dish out right now all at once. Besides, I do not have space in the room right now for a hatchling rack, it would have to be in a different room.

The ND does have the built in clock that handles the night drop instead of using a separate cable and appliance timer like on the original Herpstat. The ND also add a higher 600 watt capability and resettable fuses. The resetable fuses are nice because if you have a unusual voltage spike, or accidentally plug your 1500 watt space heater into the device the fuse will trip and after being unpluged for a half hour it will reset where the standard Herpstat has a regular fuse that will need to be replaced which means sending it in. The ND also has auto power matching which will adjust the output curve on the fly to try to regulate better. So if the room temp dips down the ND will kick up its curve a little to compensate. The original doesn't have that. Plus the audible alerts with the high/low alarms which can save you when your animal pushes the probe out of the tub and the temp drops below your setting. That way you hear the beeping and hopefully catch it before the enclosure gets overheated. There are a few other tweaks/options in the ND as well. The original Herpstat is a great thermostat and the ND just adds a little more tech but for the price of the ND its well worth the additional features.

The Herpstat II is basically two of the Herpstat ND's program wise with a higher wattage because it has active cooling with a small fan. Its priced less than two ND's so you save some money.

The Herpstat Pro is the king. Four thermostats in one unit with 400 watts an output with a big display and real easy menu system. Has all the bells and whistles and is probably the hotest seller for us. Its basically a buy 3 outputs get one free as far as the pricing so although its an initial investment I can't tell you how many people I talk to who come back and say they wished the bought it in the beginning. Seems once you get the reptile fever one animal becomes many. :D

We do have extensions that will allow you to add 12ft length to the probes (which are 12ft). I need to get some time to put up a comparison chart on our website as I get this type of question alot. :)

    Hope that helps!
