Why are you suggesting this if you are not sure if the snake is strong or smart enough to break through? I promise you the snake is BOTH strong and smart enough...

This is an all time bad idea.

Like others have mentioned a Rubbermaid container is probably the best plan, but when you have an animal who needs care, it is your responsibility to take care of the problem NOW, not next week. The OP needs to pull whatever strings necessary to make it happen.

Actually, tape and snakes make for a bad mix. Too many snakes have gotten tape stuck to them, and had scales pulled off.

Seems it would be much more efficient (and more affordable) to run to Dollar General and pay $3 for a tub instead.

You can buy a plastic tub from the dollar store.

Anyway, I am pretty sure the OP is talking about the heater on the tank, not the tank itself although the post is a bit confusing.

notice i said the rubbermaid one first? went best to worst not every one has a rubber maid tub lying around

and nah its that bad i made a skink cage out of an open bar top/sides front ferret cage just had a plastic bottom..

no need to be fancy just needs to work imo

There is a big difference between a python and a skink.

its easy to make a hobo cage out of a rubbermaid... if u have a human heating pad use that under it.. it will not melt the plastic.. ide line the the rubbermaid cage with paper towel since this will allow max heat flow from the uth to the snake..

but i am very new and owning one myself but it cant get much worse then not having any heat or a cage... so i think my idea would work fine

before u put the snake in the cage if u have a digi thermometer with a wire probe sitck it under the snakes hide in the rubbermaid cage and see what the temp is.. if its to hot turn the heating pad down.. to cold turn the pad up... should do just fine since the pads dont get that hot.. well mine doesnt anyways

you could probs also make a cardboard box cage ... << dunno how that would work lol

dunno if you all seen that i pretty much told him the best solution my very first post? then i tell him how to do it... and fix he other cage if it is cracked... lol lmk if u see what it says on this post

your right... skink is alot stronger atm even though he is still a small one.. plus he climbs.. and has very sharp nails.. yet the tinfoil holds him in... odd lol

but anyways imo i posted the best option you all missed that one though.. it went best to worst since maybe the dollar store closed? maybe his house is very cold and needs a cage asap or snake will die?

you cant plan every thing and what works works atm and will insure snake survival

Your first idea was a good one but everyone who has commenting on your post has been referring to how poor of a solution the latter would be.

Do you really think that someone in this situation is more likely have a dog crate, small animal cage, tinfoil, sheets of cardboard, and aluminum foil rather than having a single plastic tub? Do you honestly think that putting tinfoil and tape all over a barred cage is a good idea and will safely and effectively house a snake for a week?

Sounds like you came up with the best possible idea and the WORST possible idea. Worst case scenario does not mean you think of the worst idea possible. It means you think of the best thing you could do in the worst possible situation.
