I cut cardboard into pieces that would fit across the screen and wrapped each one in foil. That way you can add or remove panels as needed. Just make sure you leave about a 2-3 inch gap between the panels and the lamp so they wont get hot. If you want, I can link you to some pics I posted on how I did it...

OP: The main problem is the heat light. If you turn it off you should observe your humidity shooting up. If your normal room temperature is above 70*F, I would highly suggest using only UTH belly heat instead of lights.

Other things that help humidity are:
    A larger diameter water bowl
Covering the screen top with 2/3 aluminum foil or foil tape
Using a good moisture holding substrate like cypress mulch

No offense but have you ever used tin foil before? if you have ever taken anything out of the oven that has tinfoil over it you would know that you can touch it with your bare hands after a few seconds.

k so i tryd the tin foil on my moms geckos cage.. it seems to tear alot and u cant shape it around the light like it needs to be... btw when duct take gets hot the adheasive gives off this nasty smell.. like tuna fish im sure it isnt to good for the snake but use duct tape if you want lol

simple fix is tin foil over card board= wont get wet and mold and wont suck the humidity out.. but it never did for me :) and yes i know you can do that with tin foil when it comes out of the oven but if you think about it you said you had to let it sit a sec before you can touch it... the light would be on it while my digi wire was on it... leading to melting the plastic coating on the wire.. oh the small things that would ruin the stuff my snake relays on to live lol

a good water holding substrate would be zoo meds eco earth its a dirt/coconut fiber base you can make it really wet or squeeze most the water out to make it dry.. dunno if you can do this with wood chips.. ges you could bake them?

i prefer dirt and so does my snake.. i have seen alot of cage setups just using paper towel and it makes me sad.. i wouldnt want to live my life on paper towel.. lol and wood chips.. i tryd just having those in there and he would try to dig in it wouldnt go so well so i use the dirt... and not he can do w/e he wants and i dont mind the long cage cleaning process. if i wanted something easy to care for i would have stuck with buying a dog lol or even another ferret :)

really though when your doing this idea stuff you should do it with the snake out of the cage so you dont freak it out with the temp n humidity changing all the time.. and your hand being in there checking it
