Here is my story.

i bought small 10-20gal UTH and put it on one side of the cage with a digital termometer probe right in the center on top of the substrate. it is reading 90-92 day time and 85-87 night. i put a hide box with no bottem right over the spot where the uth is.
My new question is what is a good digital hygrometer and thermometer?

Accurites are good! Your local hardware will have them! Just get one that measures indoor/outdoor temp and has a probe. The probe will measure the warm side! The unit will measure the cool side and humidity! You shold be measuring the warm temps right at the uth not on top of the substrate!

why right on the uth?
because it will be between the astro truf and the tank bottem and make it hotter reading?
Could i just cut a hole in the substrat and not put it under it.
i am thinking i will need a thermostat in the summer months atleast.
