i had the same problem. i hate this stuff! to make it a lil easier to get down her throat i opened an old pen, cleaned out the ink and put the plastic ink tube into the end of the syringe. then cut it to make it shorter. now i have a thin piece going in her throat instead of some big fat syringe

    Hi,

I hated trying to give oral medication to mine for the same reasons. :(

I ended up going to a vets and getting a small catheter for the end of the syringe - it flexed easily enough I wasn't as worried about hurting her and was longer so I could get it further down her throat. Then I just put a little water in the syringe to flush all the meds out of the catheter so she got the full dose.

But in the end I just prefer getting injections - it seems far less stressful on both the snake and myself.

i too prefer injections, but after injections didnt completely kill off the bacteria my vet said her trachea or esophagus is where the bacteria is so i had to go back to oral baytril.

oh ya and also, i was watching tv and i was watching them catch large anacondas and they shoved huge tracking devices down there throats and apparently that doesnt cause any damage.:O so im a lil more comfortable now putting the meds into her throat even tho she isnt a huge anaconda.
