    Re: I should've started with Red Tails
    The temperament of the two BP's is only a fraction of the reason I picked up a boa. Also, just because I picked up a boa doesn't mean I'm done with BP's or even dislike them. I'm fully aware that a lot of the attitude issues with my older BP could've come from previous owners and he lived in a tank that was HORRIBLE. We are talking using a t shirt for a hide and mold everywhere. When I say he was a rescue, I mean it in every sense of the word.

    :O:tears:
    That is so sad that someone would mistreat a snake like that!
    Thank You for rescuing him!:bow::bow:

    Just goes to show how EACH snake is different and it really doesn't matter of the type of snake it is. I would love to venture into red tails just because of there sheer beauty, and hopefully I get one like you that is nicely tempered. I hear that RTB's can be rather nippy too, but I don't believe that they are anymore nippy then ball's. Just depends on the snake. Its like some snakes are more programmed by there natural instincts then others, and have a harder time adapting to a "better" or "safer" way of living then what was given to them by nature. They got the "stick with what you know" attitude, nothing personal I don't think.

    You're exactly right. Some snakes are more prone to have an attitude than others; however, all snakes have their own personality. I have some Nic boas that love nothing more than to tag me, while others are docile as can be. All of my BCIs are, and have always been, docile. I am cautious when I take them out of their cage, as I am with any bigger snake, but they have never struck at me.

    I have four snakes, 2 balls and 2 boas. The balls are considered my friends snakes but I am housing and feeding them because she cannot have them at her Apartment ( So really...they are mine) Anyways... Both ball pythons CONSTANTLY try to strike at me. Now Ive had somewhere around 30 ball pythons and these two are by far the worse of them all, even with handling, but it gos to show it all depends on the snake and not the kind.
