I can vouch for Nick as well. While my substrate was reading 94 (still warm for a hot side) my tub was running 124.7. It's a good thing I run the setup for a week before adding any snake. I will be adding a thermostat as soon as I can. Until then, my new pastel will be in the same setup that works for my other two (a 20g aquarium with a light). Haven't had a bad shed out of any of my others. Wanted to move to tubs to save money, but you still have to control that heat.

Well... if you could get about $10 bucks you could build a Rheostat, which I was successful in doing. I'll PM you the link to the instructions.

If you have $20 then you can monitor and control the temperature of your snakes tank.

You can find the lamp dimmer, linked to earlier, at the home depot in the lighting section. You might have to ask an employee where to find it. It is about $10-11

The accurite weather station is an indoor outdoor thermometer that has a probe which you can put right on the glass where your UTH is. It will also measure ambient temperature and humidity. It costs about $12.

"Guessing" what your temps are is just that, guessing. If you don't know your temps, they are probably wrong. Take initiative before you come back here with a burned or cooked snake :)

You don't need to wire a rheostat. It would be much easier to just buy a piggy back dimmer like the one that was linked earlier.

If you aren't familiar with electrical wiring, then don't build your own.

the dimmers I bought made all the difference in the world. The temp can still fluxuate around 5 degrees but it has been steady for the most part for the last couple of months I have had them in there. The temp with out them from my probe reading was 135 degrees... so to not use a dimmer will ensure a cooked snake at some point.

hate to be the one to say it but if you owe people so much money you should have paid them first and then buy the setup, then snake.
