    How are you able to take the macro shots like that? I get that close and the flash just blasts everything away. If I don't use flash with the macro, it's all blurry....

    That is how most point and shoots work in the "macro" mode. If you are able to adjust aperture settings while still in macro mode, that would help you a lot.

    I use an acutal MACRO lens. A lens specifically designed to take close up photographs. Although it can perform other duties other than close-up, it is strongest there.

    Your flash is also a big part of it.

    On camera flashes are normally one speed with NO adjustment capabilities. I am using a Ring Flash that attaches to the hotshoe then to the front of my lens.

    Thanks Patrick - good to know! It's so hard spending money on a new camera when you're tempted by a new snake instead! :P
