    Just to add, It will probably be very hard to find a reptile thermostat in stores. You will most likely have to order it online.

    A rheostat is a good temporary control system but they can be very unreliable especially if your room temperature changes.

    Yeah go and get a light dimmer from lowes they are only $12 You will have to play with the depth of your substrate to get your temps right.My uth gets up to 109degrees so I had to play with the substrate and get a light dimmer.

    I have a 20gallon tank setup and I had to get a 50watt bulb/ basking light to keep my temps up on the cool side. Make sure you fill up the tank if he is small. I bought a cool branch thing that he can climb on and hide under and put it in the cool side with the light.

    Cypress mulch keeps humidity high, mine was at 79% until it dried out some. Just watch your temps and you'll be fine
