The can be kept in anything - should they be is a different question.

Depends on the size of the rack. A FB or ARS 4 foot or more rack would work as would the Animal Plastics VE175 - although that one narrows out a bit on the bottom.

These aren't ball pythons - they are active and inquisitive and don't spend a ton of time in their hides. I would go no smaller than a 4'x2' enclosure.

4 out of the 5 breeders I contacted in my research of these beauties keep them in a cb-70 or equivalent. As for space I am of the impression that as with most snakes other than BP's the bigger the better.

Is there any cheap place to get these racks? Or racks similar? I suck at building thins and im broke.

Don't forget that just because that cb-70s work for the species, it doesn't mean that they don't do even better in larger cages.

These guys get pretty darn big after the get some years under their belt (or I should say scales), I would never keep a big female in anything smaller than a 4x2 either.

I have an extra glass tank that's 36x18x18in... out of curiosity, would that be large enough for a woma?? Just wondering if I should give that tank away before moving (this month), or hang on to it for future additions. ;)

P.S. Sorry if we're hijacking your thread! Maybe we need another thread on tank/tub size for womas...

For an adult?

Tim - my 3 year old males are over 66" long and pushing 2600 grams and at least as big around as a beer can. My female is about 7' long and a hefty 3500 grams. That's too big to put in a 34x17 drawer - no matter what 4 out of 5 dentists say............:)

In fact, not to go too far off topic here, but I am in the process of re-homing a male. If a prospective adopter told me he was going to be stuffed in a 41qt drawer I would refuse the deal.

Again, what someone CAN do and SHOULD do are often two very different things.

I posted a link to an Aussie Snake Forum. Regardless of what breeder A or breeder B is doing here, I would take a long hard look at how other people are keeping these snakes.
