As others have said, take a while to get some experience with these snakes before you breed. Starting off with babies and raising them up is a great idea. You should have enough experience under your belt within 2-3 years. I've had snakes for the past 3 years, and got my first ball pythons a little over 2 years ago and I'm headed into my 2nd breeding season (purchased some adult females). Ball pythons are addictive so beware. You will soon go into a reptile show and not be able to leave without buying a snake. I had to leave my wallet at home last time. No wait....I came home with a gecko. Haha, see.

If you are looking for some babies to raise up you could easily purchase a few different morphs in the 300-900 range. Pinstripes are a dominant morph that make some really interesting combos and one of my favorites. You could pick up a female for about $350-500. There are several co-doms that have come down in price as well. Male pastels are under $100 and spiders range from $200-400 depending on the individual snake. (These prices are guestimates of what I've seen advertised recently). An albino male would cost you about $450. So you have plenty to choose from. I would get whatever catches your eye first. My first ball pythons were a normal female and a het pied male. I loved the pied but just could not fork up $2000 for a male. So I figured I'd make some of my own the long way.

But yea, that's the general rule when it comes to buying snakes. Get what you like the most.
