This is the first time I have ever seen him fully in his water bowl so I'm not sure if he might be doing it in order to get ready for his shed cycle or not. He is about five months old and his last shed was on November 26 so I suppose it could be what you were talking about.
I picked him up today to see if I could tell if he had anything on him that looked abnormal, but to me, I didn't see anything that looked like a mite (could just be my untrained eye). I also haven't seen anything in his water bowl or substrate, but I'll continue to keep an eye out for anything.

IF you get PAM, follow the directions on the can EXACTLY. they are very simple but very important.

Ive kept snakes out as long as an hour and a half, or put them in their treated enclosures with as little as 15 minutes after treatment application with no ill effects. you just need to wait until the spray dries and is no longer liquid.
