Re: Does anyone feed during shed???
Yep. :)
My little female will take food anytime, and almost anywhere. Granted, she may take a few more seconds because she can't SEE! :P But she's a great feeder.
Re: Does anyone feed during shed???
bp's are nocturnal and have poor eye sight whether or not they're in shed. so i don't think eyesight plays a very significant role in hunting, if any.
Re: Does anyone feed during shed???
i didn't used to, but now that we have 20 snakes (which may become 21 within the next few days), i don't really worry about thawing mice, only to have them "wasted" because the snake was in shed. i usually only thaw about 10 food items per week, because i know that not ALL the snakes will eat every week.
i offer each snake a food item every week, and if they don't take it i move on to the next. sometimes, i offer snakes that are in shed, without even knowing it. often feeding day lies on the "clear" phase of shed, and sometimes a day or two after they have eaten, i find a neat little shed rolled up in their enclosure.
but yes, i do offer in shed because i don't have many snakes that really refuse because of it.
unless their eyes are COMPLETELY blue, then i don't offer because, WATCH OUT they have horrible aim
:P
Re: Does anyone feed during shed???
I used to but I had a couple shedding issues that I attributed to it, so I stopped feeding them from blue to slough.
Re: Does anyone feed during shed???
yes i do. she has never turned down a meal no matter when or what i offer to her. i hope she stays this way. i dont feed in blue tho just so she can atleast see a lil bit. but once they clear up its feeding time
