There are lots of mites on the snake, whether you see them or not... they hide under scales etc.
One almost surefire way to tell if a snake has mites is to look around the eyes, to see if they are puffy and have mites in the edges of the socket.
Another is to look at the snake's chin and stretch the skin to see inside the flaps where mites like to hide.
Re: help , i think it was a mite!
You can feed your snake. When it eats and expands their throat, you can spot mites easily.
Mites are sooo not fun.
I was able to combat my mite issue with that Reptile mite spray, baths, and bleach (not the snake of course) :D
Also, treat every snake you got like it is infected with mites, even if you don't see anything.
Good luck!
Re: help , i think it was a mite!
well since i putted the snake in his new shelf viv and i cleaned the other one where he was temporary i didnt se any mites from that day till now, my guess is it was a mite from one of the hamsters, maybe from the one that passed away. maybe that was the reason he passed away too. im not running to conclusions of course im no expert. i still didnt find provent a mite in my country.
