Re: Co-co bedding background with ball pythons?
I might have to disagree with the terrible climber thing, haha. I had a screen top break once on one of my terrariums (before my collection grew and I converted to a rack system), and was forced to buy an off-the-shelf top from a local pet store. Despite using duct tape and heavy books to keep the tank closed, this clever girl would shimmy it open a couple nights a week, much to my chagrin. The first time this happened, I completely took my room apart looking for her, and she seemed to be nowhere to be found. I ended up finding her, the first time and almost every time thereafter, in a paper bag containing sheets on the very unreachable top-shelf of my closet. I still have absolutely no idea how she managed to get up there, but she has done so at least 3 or so times. She might be the exception to the rule, but she is my only ever escaped snake, and she proved to be a rather great climber, haha. Keep in mind she is a VERY stout and robust 1000+ gram snake, very sausage like. She definitely doesn't look like a climber. All that being said, I don't want to comment either way on what the OP should do with his terrarium, as the worth of the risks involved can only really be quantified by the OP. I myself would pass on this kind of setup for a Ball Python, and leave it for various gecko or Dendrobates sp.. It would be much more difficult in my opinion to keep a naturalistic set-up clean with a snake than with other various smaller animals where springtails and such can be efficient cage cleaners. On the other hand with the snake having absolutely no interest in invertibrates, bigger colonies of larger decomposers like pill-bugs might be possible to raise in the terrarium--but I would worry about parasites and such with a situation like that, and would rather just keep my snakes in a plain, boring, easy to maintain rack system, haha. This was way more longwinded that I had intended! Sorry about that, and good luck to the OP!
Cheers,
-Matt

Hello,
Really nice setup! Bravo!
Is it real or fake plants?
Thx.
Denis.

Vive-moi, in the boa terrarium I have fake plants, they would destroy everything if those were live ones :D.
