Re: All People That Use Use Aspen- How Often Do You Do A Complete Bedding Change?
I do a spot check every morning and when I spot clean I take out a pretty big spot. I will remove an area about the size of one hide or more if needed. I feed live and I will chase the mouse around its cage a little bit before I remove it to get it to "expel waste" before I put it in with my BP. After she eats and settles down I usually check to see if there are mouse droppings I can remove as well. I do a complete change every 6 to 8 weeks or when my nose tells me too. If it smells offensive at all its time to do a complete change.

I spot clean, and change it once a month or when the shed cycle is over. If I accidentally pour water from the water bowl onto the aspen and drench a spot, Ill wait for it to absorb a bit then spread it around the tank so it is not concentrated and will dry quicker. Ill only remove bedding if it is soiled.

I use cypress but I spot clean a couple times per week and completely change it every 2-3 months. I think cypress mulch tends to hold up longer though.
