So out of all of you BP.net members that have RTBs...what to you reccommend and what works for you? I live in north jersey where it gets slightly chill and I only use tubs. I dropped tanks a while ago. This will be my first RTB. Not my first snake I have a few Balls around :)

They're AWESOME pets! They're docile, hardy, and good feeders (providing you get a common boa constrictor, Boa constrictor imperator, not a red tail boa, Boa constrictor constrictor, which are NOT recommended for beginner boa keepers). The only consideration is the size. If you've got the space and money for larger feeders and you're comfortable with handling a 10-ft snake, go for it! :gj: :gj:

As for tub sizes, I find a 6qt suitable for about 6mo, until they are 1-2ft long. From there, you've just got to move up based on size. With larger boas, AP cages work just as well as tubs in terms of holding heat and humidity.

For feeding, I usually go with my BP feeding guidelines; appropriately sized prey every 5 days for the first 9 months or so, then 7 days. After they hit the 2 year mark, they get an appropriately sized rodent every 2-4 weeks.

Temps--88* warm side 80* cool side, can drop 10* at night. Pretty basic.

If you have any more specific Qs, ask away. :) Good luck!
