    Well, the mutation is simple recessive; so you need two mutated copies for the phenotype to show.

    So if you bred a motley het stripe (one copy motley, one copy stripe) to a normal, then all of the babies would be het for either motley OR stripe and would be phenotypically normal. However, you wouldn't be able to tell which was het for what until breeding trials.
