    anyone uses a heatmat without a gap between the tub and heatmat and between heatmat and the surface it's on?

    I found out flexwatt is actually illegal in Europe.

    Anyone has used heat mats without gaps between the surface and mat, and between the mat and the tub?


    I guess with a good t-stat it should be ok....?

    Utter nonsense. If it was illegal I wouldn't have been able to import some and pay customs charges. :rolleyes:

    I would think it would be ok as long as it was on a thermostat but the tubs I have used so far have inbuilt feet which raises them up slightly in the rack.

    Those stubbs that come with the heat mats are there so the weight of the tank is not sitting on the cord. They create a gap for the cord to run through.

    ok then, i'll try with heatmats and t-stat without a gap, and see what happens...
