    Could it just be someone's way of trying to get you to not get inked? The symbol being arbitrary.

    If it helps at all, I have a Tattoo with my daughters' names in it and my hubby has a Tat with his sons' names in it. I also have a Great Dane Tat to honor my Danes and that have been Rescued or in need of Rescue. I think superstitions are only valid to the people that believe in them....
    Good luck with getting your Tat, nothing like fresh ink!!!

    The person who told you that may have been speaking about commemorative art in general. Creating a commemorative piece dedicated to a living person is taboo in many cultures, because generally it is something you do only after a person has died.

    But hey, it’s your body. If it does not have that message for you, than do what you like. :gj: Look at all the people who get their kid’s faces tattooed on them!
