I agree that the best way to control odor is by using pelleted bedding. Aspen pellets are best and you only need to change that about every 2 weeks or so but its hard to find. I have a farm & fleet store and a big R store near me where i can get huge bags of wood pellet bedding meant for livestock for cheap. Petco sells the aspen pellets and they smell even better.
The wood pellets are very drying and absord odor & moisture completely. They do break down and crumble after awhile so its best to have a shop vac handy for changing out bedding with no mess.
I'll never go back to chips or shavings or fluff or anything else that reaks up my house. I dont smell the rodents at all using wood pellets bedding.
