    Camera:
    Canon 20D

    Lens:
Different lens for different stuff I use the Tamron 24-135mm Macro allot lately, but the 90mm f2.8 Macro is tack sharp & a better lens. I've just been to lazy to swap it over.

    Light:
Sunlight whenever possible, I have used Tungsten (which sucks), but now use halogen & reveal lights when the sun isn't an option.

    Set-up:
I have a light box made out of serilight lids, but it depends on how handy it is.

    Settings:
I've switched between Macro & AP settings but am starting to play with the exposure settings too... often I find if I'd had the higher ISO slower shutter speeds, I'll get what I want.

Your default Macro will give you great detail, but is light hungry- you need allot of light for the flash not to go off. I hate my built in & want a speed-light which I can control better.

Sunlight shot, Macro setting, diffused flash:

    Same snake/day different light:

I dabble with other types of photography & even work doing portraits part of the year for the last 3 years. Working in a studio environment is fun, but there's not the flexibility you have for varying situations. Each situation has it's own rules.

Since I just got into photographing my snakes I don't have a lightbox or anything set up yet. I just used a black sweater on my bed w/ the room light turned on. Camera is a Kodak Easyshare Z740.

Use outside light, by a window for white-background pictures, or for black background it doesn't matter as much.

    I use a Sony SLR 330.

I use a Canon PowerShot SD1100 with 8 megapixels. I put the snake on white poster board and use the science fair 2 fold poster board. I just figured out how to basically erase the background if you use all white.
