pastel "grades"

i dunno.. i kinda like to think that the 'brown' term that everyone uses to describe a lower grade pastel looks to be a nice GOLD.. i may be color-blind but thats just my opinion.. lol

could anybody on here take anyone of these pictures and use paintshop to circle and label the differences of (reduced pattern, blushing, etc) PLEASE.. just for all us newbies!

well i can try to describe it to you. reduced pattern is the black lines, the pattern of the snake, being thinner lines or spaced farther apart. and as stated b4 thats what some people like, but not me, I like a busy pattern or atleast thicker black lines, pastels develope blushing in these areas, super pastels even more. look at the areas in the black pattern that fade out and even on the head. thats the blushing.

and I think most like the more intense the yellow. typical pastal has yellow climb up their sides and it gets browner on top. more yellow and less brown the better to me. but i look for the more intense yellow color more so than the overall yellow coverage.

perfect pastel to me would be a pure vibrant yellow with thick black pattern and blushing all within it. but im probally should be looking in the killerbee area for that lol

High fading, reduced patterns, and peach sides, that's what I consider quality

I think a high quality Pastel has more to do with how vibrant the colors are rather than their pattern. Sure a pattern can play into everyone's personal love/hate for blushing and or reduced patterns but I think everyone can agree that the best kind of pastel is one that makes you do a double take to make sure it isn't a super!
