I'm using a digital thermometer with probe to measure the uth. Embarrasingly enough, I don't have a digital hygrometer yet. My apartment should be sufficiently humid though, I have 7 larger fish tanks. I regularly detach the probe to measure ambient and cool side temperatures. His belly's been slightly pink for a bit over a week now, but its been more noticeably so the past day or two.

Here's a shot of the tank, its a 20gallong long

His skin seems a little dull, not overwhelming though. I haven't seen any cloudy eyes yet.

    Hi,

Sadly no - I can't get the picture to show for me at all.

Maybe you could host it in your gallery here or on somewhere like imageshack instead?

What kind of hides do you have in there? The cruising concerns me, especially because that tank is fairly large for such a small little snake.

I've been worried about cruising too. He's out a few times a day for probably 15 minutes top. For the hides I flipped some small cat food bowls upside down and cut a hole in the side. They're about 5-6inches wide and ~1.5inches tall...do you think they're too big?

    Re: Shed pictures
nah that does't seem too big.

Daytime roaming is a bad sign, especially if the snake is not eating. It means they are uncomfortable in their environment.

If you can, I would move the snake to a 15qt tub.

Any other strategies I should go for in addition to the tub? Would a smaller tank be suitable, or is the opaqueness more of the concern? And I'm pretty sure he's about to shed...should I wait until after that's completed to move him?

our ball wont eat once she starts showing sign of shedding.
if it is starting to dull you might try soaking in warm water that helped our girl shed afew times, hard to keep humidity up in colorado. the day after shed she eats like a monster.

Soaking before a shed goes bad can result in a bad shed. Don't soak your snake unless it has had a bad shed.
