I hatched 3 clutches my first year in 2 HovaBators, using the wafer thermostats. I set them up and dialed them in a week in advance of the females laying. They did their job, and everything hatched. NEVER put eggs in an incubator before the temperatures are stabilized. Ball python females have been hatching their own eggs for thousands of years, and they're capable of looking after them for a day or two while you fix your incubator, if they happen to take you by surprise with a clutch.

Now, when I use my HovaBators, I just hook them up to a Herpstat. I prefer that over trusting the wafer thermostats. They hold temperatures VERY steady. The problem is that they only hold 2 clutches of eggs, setting right in the container, not in seperate tubs. The HovaBator doesn't have enough clearance to put tubs inside of it.

The ThinkGeek mini-fridge has gotten a lot of positive attention. It has a built-in thermostat and reportedly holds temperatures nicely stable. It's only a hundred bucks. It would probably hold 2 clutches.
