taking what you start with a making a punnet sqaure may be the easiest thing. Genetics is difficult. Dont worry. But if you dont start off with something* you can't end up with it. IE: if you don't start with hets, you can't spontaneously end up with them.

    * bars dinker projects or other unproven morphs, or the occasions where weird stuff really does just pop up.

I'm not sure if someone has said this already, but with genetics questions, its probably a lot easier to google it, instead of having to make a post and wait for responses... But anyway, the answer to your question is 50% Normal, 50% Pastel... Pastels are Co-Dominant.. When bred to normals you will be able to get pastels, and they also have a super form if bred to another pastel... (50% PASTEL, 25% SUPER, 25% NORMAL...) Recessive animals like albinos could not produce more albinos if bred to a normal... You would just get all normal looking balls that are het for albino (Full Clutch Of 100% HET ALBINO)...

Lol I agree! Although, sometimes you will get the occasional rude response  It's as if they don't want to take the time to answer you, so they take the time to be rude instead :weirdface

Codoms are really easy to figure out and your question has been answered several times so I don't have anything to add other than recessive morphs have hets. In a codom pairing you will only get visual morphs.

Not to hijack this thread or anything but I have a similar question and am also a noob at genetics. I have a 1 year old normal female and would like to buy a baby male at the october reptile show. I am trying to figure out what type of male I should buy to get something other than normal babies. Nothing crazy expensive just something a bit different.

I went to the ballpython link and it seems that whenever you breed something with a normal you should percentage wise never get more then 50% normal from a breeding and the other 50% being different then normal. Is this correct?

What is the next step up from a normal in terms of price? Like I said I don't want to spend a ton of money but would like different color babies. They are all beautiful but I have to start somewhere.

Remember the %'s are per egg not per clutch...each egg has a 50% chance of being pastel and 50% chance of being normal.

Only codoms will give you the 50/50 chances with a normal. Look for pastels, spiders, pinstripes, mojaves, cinnamons. They are all fairly reasonable. Pick the one you like the best and go for it.

Your clutch will consist of piebalds, caramel albinos, and if you hit the odds you may have a few killer blast yellowbellies!
