hets and aggression poll

I have a 100% het albino female that is really sweet, and a 100% albino male that used to be really nasty. Now he has calmed down to just a hisser....

Agreed ! I have a normal that just does not like to be messed with at all !

Worst animals I've had are normals, but I did have a pastel hatchling last year that was a real trip.
I can't say any of my hets have shown signs of being overly aggressive. Sometimes a little flighty or fussy, but that's not consistant either. I have orange ghost, albino, and pied hets now, and my grown het animals are all handleable.

I have a beautiful little albino hatchling that bit me while I was arranging her for photos. That stood out in my mind, because they so rarely bite the hand that is holding them...lol.

It could be possible , did anyone catch the special on the tiger's who are becoming more aggressive:taz: from having too small a gene pool to mate from .

My big boy pin is great now( but he is a paradox). He use to hiss supa loud and rattle his tail which I thought could neva be done by a ball. My pastel though on the other hand does not like anything not even himself lol

I think their color or pattern has absolutely nothing to do with their personality. all snakes are individuals and some have a bad attitude some don't.

each snake has its own personality, its like taking a poll to see if people with blue eyes are more aggressive, i find its more how the snake was raised that determines if its aggressive or not.

Personality in animals is primarily genetic (this is true for humans as well... well for many things, not everything, and you can successfully fight against your genetics), so if someone notices a parent is aggressive and breeds it, then typically the offspring will be more likely to be so. Note that a LOT of genes have an effect on personality, so it isn't necessarily something that will always prove out.

Anyway, if someone's genetic stock is based on a couple of snakes and they are aggressive then that explains the likelihood of their snakes being aggressive, hence someone saying one morph is more aggressive than another, its because their experience is based on a limited genetic stock.

Oh and I dont mean to offend people by saying that you're like your parents, its entirely possible that you're not (we all know genetics here, we know about hets and homs and how they are passed on), but you are genetically predisposed to a certain brain chemistry and hormone activity (genetics entirely keys for proteins production), your response to your brain's actions is partially experienced based, so you can react in a different way to how your mind would tell you to.

i think that should read "your response to your brain's actions is mostly experienced based"

i think genetics plays very little roll in personality, mayb has an effect on instincts but eventually animals, humans included, start to learn and base behavior off of experiences.
