I can hurt my snake even if he is on top off the aspen?

cause I had it on all week last week, he seems fine though I just held him today

the problem is he isn't just on top of the aspen. He can and WILL burry down if he wants more warmth. They have a very hard time gauging temperature on their bellies and this is how they end up with bad burns.

110 is much too hot to safely run, this also makes your cage temps off from "accepted" temps and can cause other problems like causing him to go off feed, become stressed or even aggressive because he just can't escape the heat. If he starts hiding in or curling around his water dish excessively he could very likely be over heating.

I had my thermometer probe become unstuck from the area its supposed to be in and only realized when i looked in on my guys and found everyone on the cool side ontop of thier hides or around their water bowls.

Everything was fixed and no damage was done but as the keeper it is your responsibility to make sure you give your animal the right environment because as a captive creature he can't do it for himself :)

He should be fine, as long as your room isn't super cold... many snakes are kept with only heat lamps, and survive alright. ;) What are the temps reading now, with just the lamp?

You should probably save for a quality thermostat though and consider it an investment for the life of your animal.

A $75 thermostat is much more affordable than potential vet visits to treat a burn.

You can also purchase an on/off thermostat that is in the $75 range here:

    THIS times 100!

You have to understand that a thermostat is JUST as important as the ANIMAL in your set up. Its part of the "package deal" that comes with dealing with animals that can't internally control their own body temperatures. :)

(This is a little old, but I had to put in my two cents.)

They can get a little feisty on here, but you're not in the right either.

If you don't want people "jumping" on you then next time if you do get another snake do your research before you buy it!

and at least have the proper setup for the little fella...

Being uninformed, unprepared, and not having a snake isn't reckless.

But when you've already have the snake... It's very much reckless.
