When it comes to maintaining an expensive collection, only the best can and will do. Good luck on your venture though. Im breeding ASFs now not to sell but to downsize the cost of feeders, and as easy as it is I can not imagine breeding to sell...that just seems like a grueling task.
It's a fair amount of work. I do like it though. I also am not planning on getting anywhere near the size of the big guys.
It's kind of cool to put your combos together, colour wise, and see results in a few weeks months instead of a few years the way it is with snakes.

Well then that's the key. Loving your work is as much a part of the process as actually doing the work required.
And I totally know what you mean, I didnt think of the genetics until yesterday, when I was picking up and sexing my ASFs that were born on the 12th. It was cool to see the mix of color and pattern from mom and dad. Just one more thing to look forward to now, mixing colors. And it's almost instant gratification, which is nice when you're waiting years to produce these ball python "eggs" that people speak of but I have never seen...

Those prices are fair if you meet the quality standards you set out for. The shipping discounts would definitely appeal to someone like me that likes to order a small bulk order a couple times a year.
My only concern would be shipping costs from the West Coast to East Coast possibly being too high where the shipping discounts still wouldn't make it worth my while.

Wes,
I think $1.25 is reasonable for smalls. I don't buy anything bigger than smalls anymore but I would think your other pricing is reasonable. I think shipping is always the problem. For me it needs to be under $50 for it to make sense. That said, quality is lacking across the feeder industry. There are exceptions of course. Sign me up! I am feeding 100% F/T (except for hatchlings that don't take to F/T immediately) and go through quite a few feeders per month.

My feeders are 10 ft from the snakes which is then 10 ft from the CO2. Cant get anything better than your own stock and freshly frozen so you know how long its been frozen.

Re: Rat Pricing, would you pay this?
Last time I bought rodents it was from Big Cheese, which is 0.95 for small rats, and I can't remember but I think it was around $50 for shipping. However, though they were clean, I was a bit disappointed with the small rat pack because there were a bunch of tiny ones mixed in with the regular size ones. I only buy 25-50 at a time though, so if you could guarantee the sizes and the cleanliness, I'd consider buying from you instead.
Good luck!! :gj:
