I wanted to come back to this thread and thank everyone for their responses and input. Over the weekend I got an enclosure set up and will be running it this week to make sure I can maintain the proper parameters. If all goes well, I’ll start looking around for a new inhabitant. Wilbanks, where I got my BP, has some gorgeous 50/50 Cali kinds that caught my eye, and being familiar with their process as well as Mike’s reputation, I’ll probably be purchasing from him when the time comes.
Thanks again everyone, it’ll probably be a couple of more weeks of tweaking thermostats and moving décor around, but once I pull the trigger I’ll be sure to share some pre-quarantine pics with you all.

Just a quick update and looking for a little feedback. I’m into week two of running this enclosure empty (no snake and have not ordered so I have plenty of time), and I’m not.. concerned about the temperatures but wanted a few other opinions. Last week I asked you guys about using an overhead heat source in conjunction with a UTH. I mentioned that I didn’t think I’d need to use one and I did maintain an ambient temp of 73-75 all week.
I know that falls within what our BP.net care guide recommends, but I was a little concerned that it might be too low, even with the hot spot that the UTH creates. Since the enclosure is empty, I thought I’d break out a CHE, ran through a Herpstat 2, and see what I could do about bumping that temperature up a bit. I have it set to 80 with the probe hanging about 6 inches below the CHE. I did this to not have the CHE running all the time, as I’m familiar with what these do to your humidity, and while I know a king can do with what a typical home is humidity wise, didn’t want to zap too much out of the enclosure. Seem to be maintaining right around 42%.
So as far as feedback, do you guys think I’m over thinking the temperatures? I’ve settled on a California King when the time comes, and there’s mixed info on ambient temps from 70-75 to 80-85. Just want to make sure I’m set up and maintaining before bringing anything home.
