Think about this.
You see a man dressed in black crawl out of your neighbors window. You can see they are taking items but your not sure what. Maybe stolen guns to be used in other crimes, maybe just jewelry and a playstation. Not sure but you know its property.
You confront them and tell then to stop. They don't and they run away.
You call the police and they check on your neighbor. They find that they were killed in a struggle with the intruder. Now with nothing to go on but your statement of "a man dressed in black" (We call that "the usual" since that's all we usually get), and not knowing for sure what was taken solving this crime is near impossible.
Despite what CSI shows do on tv we are a for way from that in the real world.
Now back up a bit.
You confront thm and tell them to stop. They don't and they get shot.
You call the police and they check on your neighbor. They find that they were killed in a struggle with the intruder. Now with the criminal dead or in the hospital we know who did it. If they are dead they will never do it again. If just wounded we at least can send them to court for their crimes.
My point is you never know for certain that the criminal is not going to harm you or if they have already harmed another. But you can be sure that if they are not stopped they will commit more crimes. Maybe the next time against you.

When people started responding #3, I thought it would be interesting to see what they had to say about other dangers in the world that one could be completely justified in being concerned with. Those things would be that which contributes (obesity) to the leading causes of death in the US, heart disease and cancer.
Interestingly, the people who gave calm, reasonable responses also cited a concern for the food they eat and the lifestyle they live. The others chose to lash out with personal insults and attempts to derail the conversation into a debate about their right to carry arms or when it is appropriate to use lethal force on criminals.
I agreed in the beginning and continue to agree that every American has the right to bear arms. All I sought was a brief explanation of the decision to exercise the right. When people gave reasoning with huge holes in it, I felt obliged to provide a different perspective. I believe in the whole 'love thy neighbor' concept even though I don't actively participate in any religion. It felt my duty to try to shed light on rational fears about the world to help people question their own beliefs and practices. I think questioning one's beliefs and practices is the only way to personally advance and become a better person.
Doolittle hit the nail on the head when she said McDonald's was worse. Safe gun ownership is low-risk. What's more dangerous to children than the boogie man robber is the one who instills a culture of eating pizza as a celebration and having 'fry parties.' There is a blazing contradiction between that cultural training and one which says you should keep yourself and your body protected by firearms everywhere you go. I hope this last post helps a few of you understand where I was coming from with my 'debate.'
I'll leave this here and won't post again on your thread. I really did not mean to get it so side-tracked, but I guess I should have expected it.
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing."

Wish you would open your mind a bit. I do have fry parties maybe once year. I also take my kids to macdonalds once in a blue moon to reward them for something. I don't know anyone who has died from the occasional mcnugget and small fries. Nor as chicken wing been linked to a death. I believe your problem mr Lang is you see in black and white. For you it's either 'we all want to shoot people' or 'having unhealthy food once in a while is a killer' not that I feel the need to defend my choices for you I will. You have struck a nerve and maybe that was your intent. If so congrats. Answer this question, do you wear a seatbelt in your vehicle? If you answer yes why? I've personally never been in a car accident where a seatbelt saved my life. However I do understand that there is a risk involved with driving so I choose to protect myself and family in any way I can. I also make sure my children have the appropriate child restraints at all times. According to your logic I'm just 'paranoid.' Is it ok for someone to smoke in their car and wear a seatbelt or is it pointless because they are smoking and that is unhealthy so why bother with a seatbelt. No different than carrying a gun statistics say I won't ever need it, but I choose to just incase, the same way I wear a seatbelt, just in case.
Please feel free to respond this thread is already derailed.

Just because its a quote does not make it true.
You are in a murky bubble that is clouding your vision of the world, maybe your the drug clouded crackhead.
I have had several instances that I could have "waste(d) someone legally" and past. Taking care of the situation without resorting to justified deadly force. You tend to ignore most of the post and pick out and twist what you want. Your like the media.
I'm glad your not going to post on this thread any longer, I'm going to hold you to it. Now you will have more time to devote to your anti McDonalds campaign. I think you should look at including Jack in the Box and a few more.
I'm personally not a fast food fan and can't remember the last time I ate it but I hope your not against the supersize. If an American wants a gallon of Dr Pepper that is their business., not yours.
One day you will be tested and your bubble popped, I just hope that you have earned your Insanity tshirt and survive the ordeal.
I bet your glad we didn't choose option 1. Even the girls beat you.

Lol, I know of someone who almost died on a piece of broccoli, ever since then I have sworn off broccoli, I don't want to be the one who does die from an ill tempered vegetable.

I'm sorry Sean but Lang can not answer your question. He said he was done posting and i said I was holding him to it.
I wouldn't worry to much. I'm sure he wouldn't answer it and instead rant about a McFlurry.
So guys i have a Smith &Wesson model 28 (N frame) with a six inch barrel. Anybody have one bigger?
-
I have a beretta o/u with a 28 in barrel I usually carry it around the mall so everyone knows how tough I am and I just hope I see a shoplifting crime in progress so can waste someone. That's all us crazy gun owners do anyway right.

I have to lay low on New Years Eve. Sounds like a freaking war going on.
What do you guys think of Sig Sauer?
I was thinking of a P250 or P229
