Alright, were not so much worried about you going broke...ticking you parents off....or burning out young, were all worried about the animals you will have. You need to make sure before you get each animal you have proper housing for them, make sure you have a vet. all ready to go incase you need them etc.

I am doing this all for the animals. I will drop this whole idea if it makes the animals happy.

Im really excited!! I need to start practicing my one word posts that are to the point but short.:P

justin, this is your first post in this thread. you are asking for tips to get started. you are asking for organization, selling and photo taking tips.

that is not the post of someone who's a few years away from breeding snakes. this is the kind of post someone makes who has grown up their snakes... has a female or 3 who are ready to get together with their male(s) and they want some tips on how to sell their babies.

so when everyone is saying, "whoa there cowboy, slip on your flip flops and take a breath!" - they are saying this because from all the posts you've made in this forum you don't sound super informed - you sound young and like you still have heaps to learn.

i don't think anyone is trying to be mean or hurtful to ya... we are just worried that you are biting off more than you can chew and since you are talking about living creatures... we don't want your snakes to suffer due to lack of funds.

i know that if all of our snakes got RI and we had to treat them all... it would be tough to afford that... so i can't even imagine how a 13 yr old would be able to afford it. your parents have probably agreed to this without really being informed either. perhaps invite them to join the forum... to post and learn, so they can be "informed partners" in your business ;)

Justin as I was typing in a "college situation" related thread, i thought about something, and it is something you need to think about before dropping thousands of dollars.

Ball Pythons may or may not be what you want to do for the rest of your life...but when you get out of high school, don't get in that mind set "well i'm a ball python breeder, i don't need college!"....you may regret that decision.

If you make the decision to go to college and get a degree, say in business management so you can maximize the potential of your company, then you will more than likely have to move at some point in time, and have to deal with roommates, or a landlord that does not allow reptiles of any sort. Sure you can sneak them in, but with racks and racks of snakes and rodents, you are not going to keep that on the down low. your roommates are going to bicker about that rodent smell in your room.

Just keep in mind that one day you'll be out on your own, without the support of your parents. The more snakes you have, the more difficult it will be. I suppose you could get an early jump on things and when it comes time to cross that bridge, sell a majority of what you have and put that money towards college expenses.

college is a few years a way, but don't think that because it's far away, you don't have to deal with it. it's better to think ahead and come up with a good solid plan than to do things day by day. I'm not doubting your abilities, just trying to get you to open your eyes and think before jumping

Okay I said it that one time :P Now everyone on here thinks I'm serious I'm sure.

Justin, I to agree with Nathan...we have lived in places that were strict on there no-pet polocies, and we didnt live in dorm rooms either...these were Condo's in Boca Raton and Apartments over here in SW Florida, thnk about how hard it is to get a place that will allow a large amount of pets....especially reptiles. We couldnt keep ours in our Apartment because we had pest control that came in while we were gone, so even if we hid them..they sprayed there crap every where. We could of loaded them up and left, but that would run the chance of being busted leaving with them and bringing them back.

Most places have a limit (our condo was no-pets period..) our apartment was 2 cats and 1 dog under 40 pounds...there was a $300 fee per animal we owned...there were no more then that allowed...no exceptions!

You might think it's easy to find a place that does allow any amount of pets but in our area...its not. The only way we own 3 cats, 2 dogs and 6 snakes is because we own our home.

Just think...think..think...I think its great you have dreams...thats what keeps us going...gives yo something to live for.
But work your way up, you dont want to rush into things now...ruin a deal or get a bad reputation in the buisness and be marked for life...

We have thought about college. I AM going to college. Football or not. I don't want this to be my occupation. I want to be able to breed snakes for fun! I am going to go to a college in the state so I will be close to home. My snakes will stay at home. I will not be taking an animal to college there will be lack of peopel around them. At home my parents will be there, I am educationing my parents and brother.
