Well, you know what is going to happen, but every once in a while the long shot plays out. They had the best chance you could humanly give them.

Care to explain how exactly they "hatched (pippin)" on their own on Day 40?
What I see is this: they were alive (presumably) when you cut them, and now they're dead. Congratulations on your success rates.

Tre harsh? Yes he cut the eggs on day 40, the membrane was left intact, the babies pipped the membrane at day 50.

How do you figure it was his fault they died?

Well i know i will never be getting animals from you . cause how can you be any good at breeding and hatching ball pythons when you cant apparently read ..

for the mykee that cant read correctly.. they hatched /Pipped on their own on day 50 .. but didnt finish the hatch process by coming out of the egg cause they died . there is that better can you read that clearly now ?

Yup. As of now, his success rate is 0% on ball python quads surviving.

Just like everyone else in the whole wide world.

The guy had a female lay an egg that was so stuffed with snakes that it would have been a first if any of them survived and they didn't. Why do you want to throw something like that in now? The other eggs he cut did fine. People all over the world who have ball pythons have cut the eggs and the hatchlings do fine.

Those quads had next to nothing of a chance to survive with the egg cut. They couldn't even crawl out. Do you think they would have had even a remote chance of being strong enough to pip that egg if he hadn't cut it? I sure don't. They would have drowned.

When someone gets something like that and tries to save it despite how hopeless it is, I gotta give him props. I can't think of a single solitary thing he did wrong nor anything else he could have done to try to save those hatchlings. Four ball pythons stuffed into an egg that nature only meant to nourish one and they died and you want to imply that a guy killed them by cutting the egg?

I'm not so sure 3 6g snakes would have been able to survive, as I don't think there are any ball pythons recorded that have hatched that light. The 12g one may have, but that's still severely underweight and he had to share his yolk, so again, doubtful.

    It's all in the video.

I have to say that this is one of the most thoughtless, careless things I've seen written here in quite awhile. It's right up there with offering to taxidermy someone's pet just because it has a funny little wobble.

I get that you disagree with early cutting of eggs. No problem with that. You're free to express your opinion on the matter...and you did so. Are you now suggesting those QUADS would have survived otherwise? How many quad ball pythons have you successfully hatched? :weirdface I'd really love to hear your stories and experiences with that!

In the meantime, while I'm waiting to hear about your quads (or even triplets!)...I'll go on record as saying that this has been a most extraordinary event to be able to witness, even at this distance across the Internet. It is also as sad as it is extraordinary. It's a bittersweet bit of ball python history, and it's a shame that some choose to use it as a soapbox for their own agenda.

I agree 100%. I thank TheVipersHouse for sharing this with me. I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it. 4 babies in one egg, that is just mind blowing. I am sorry for your loss. I know it is hard even if you don't expect them to make it. There is always that thought in the back of your mind "maybe one will live". Don't mind people like Mykee. I for one know you did your best.

Just look at the twins to make you feel better ;)
