You wouldn't need to feed it a pig a week. Once they are adults, like most snakes, their metabolism decreases dramatically. Depending on the size of the pig, you can probably feed it once a month to twice a year.

If it's as agressive as he says, i.e. "COMPLETELY MENTAL". It will be difficult for anybody to take care of, even a zoo probably won't take it. Euthanasia sounds bad, but there are forum full of retic keepers here who don't want it either.

What's he supposed to do with it then?

I didn't see any retic keepers say they wouldn't take it. I hear/see a lot of small constrictor snake keepers say they wouldn't take it.

If I had the room and the guy would ship, yeah I would take it. But I do not. There are great food supplies around here, but I simply do not have the room to keep one.

i have a couple of pennies to add!

let me just say i don't keep Giants! I wouldn't know where to begin. However the owner of the said giant, that is on Craigslist seems to have some knowledge of what to do with them. i think a couple of you have jumped to conclusions without knowing anything about this guy. Has anybody contacted him, for further explanation of whats going on. Feeding pigs, keeping the snake to whatever size it is, and dividing your basement doesn't seem like a guy doesn't care for this snake.

If you don't keep a large snake i can't see how you can give direction on the matter. Please don't confuse that with an opinion, everyone is entitled to one of those, thats why were are all here! I hope the best for the snake.

On another note i have worked in a dog and cat shelter and euthanasia is horrible but also a necessary evil. I hope snakes don't become the same way.

    Oh yeah! Great Post Starmom!

Arguing gets into the emotional aspects of winner/loser, right/wrong whereas a scholarly debate is focused on sharing, learning, and looking at old things in new ways ;)

Poor guy, he probably feels awful about not being able to handle it.
