Many agencies allow citizens who are interested in law enforcement ride with a officer for a shift. It helps to say your interested in becoming an officer. You get to see alittle of the job but they try to keep you out of the dangerous stuff.

Can i do that? Or do i have to take a training course first or something? That sounds like it'd be cool.

Does anybody want to buy 13 guns? I'm going to have some wings this weekend and they are not healthy so I have no business protecting myself or family. Ok sorry couldn't resist, I really am making wings this weekend.

You go to your local police station and ask if they have a program. No training involved just a info packet to fill out so they can make sure you are good to go.

You would run calls, do traffic stops, maybe see some bad wrecks. You might also get to see the end results of chases, shootings, and cuttings.

Ugh I haven't made wings in a long time....I tend to go out of control when I bust out my deep fryer out, everything ends up in there.

Can you do it with state cops? I don't like most of the town cops haha.

Again, no attack here... just food for thought / request for feedback.

I quit smoking years ago and try to eat good to reduce my risk of health problems. I have guns at home to reduce the risk of harm coming to my family. If I eventually get my permit to conceal carry, it will be because I've come to the conclusion that it will reduce my risk of harm. Nothing is absolute, you will never be totally out of harms way...it's all about reducing your risk...

Long ago growing up in Orlando, our neighborhood increasingly became worse and worse as far as crime goes. It was me, my brother and my Mom. No Dad there to protect us. Late one night, someone tried breaking in. They were actually in the process of jimmy'ing the front window open when my Mom and I finally figured out what the noise was. My Mom ran to her bedroom, grabbed her 30-30 rifle and tapped the window about 3 inches from his face. As soon as he saw the barrel of that gun he was gone. No shots fired. No one killed or injured. Our house was never broken in again, even though it was a literal crime wave in our neighborhood. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Our house was the one with the crazy lady with the rifle. All our neighbors houses were, unfortunately, targets to these scumbags. I will not be a target. And my family will not be a target...
