Re: here we go building a 4 cage rack
There is going to be a big difference in temps between the bottom level and the top. You'll likely need either a thermostat that can handle 4 different levels, or 4 different thermostats.
Personally, I would have gone with a radiant heat panel over a light bulb. Wont suck out the humidity, and your snake isn't likely to burn himself on it.
I would test your cage in the final room for a week before putting in any snakes. It should be with a thermometer that can record high and low temps like the standard accurite thermometers. Also, checking throughout the day with a temp gun just to satisfy.
I'm telling you, it's going to get very hot in there. Do you have a lamp next to your bed or somewhere close by? Those lamp bulbs get incredibly hot, you really SHOULD take people's advise and install a fan system in the back.
I figure you will anyways once you record the temps your going to get in there. I imagine the top three levels will be very warm on the bottom of each cage because of the rising heat, and the lowest level will be quite cool.

any recommendations of what i should get??? brands and such
so you say i would need 2 in each cage?
at night i just use a low low watt bulb not really for heat but for visual ive been let keeping track in my old cages and i try to keep the night time heat no lower than 75 but it stays a good 78 to 80 deg

i actual use a weather station with multiple thermo/hygrometers in the cage but like you said i am going to let the cages sit for a few days to a week before putting them in there one cause of ventilation of the paints and 2 to test my heat in each cage
Re: here we go building a 4 cage rack
as for as thermostat what should i get i cant afford 4 in each cage maybe 2 mostlikely 1 and that one would be on the day time side of the cage.
I im always checking temps with a infered therometer
Re: here we go building a 4 cage rack
new pic this is how i get my framing of my doors to stay tight and secure and not fall apart.
1st i measure and cut all the pieces to size
2nd i use 90deg clamps on 3 pieces of frame then clamp and nail with a finishing nail gun
3rd i test fit the frame with all 4 pieces
4th i paint all 4 pieces
5th i slide the plexi glass in to place and glue the 4 piece on and clamp it then nail it and let it sit for about hour or 2 to make a good strong bond
6th i retest fit the door and if i have to i trim a little off here and there
7th if i have to trim which i normal dont have to i do a little touch up painting and tape off parts to the plexi doesn't get paint on it
8th i use adhesive/caulking/sealer and caulk around the door frame making sure the plexi doesn't move or have a way to pop out

ill my next post will have pics of every step

after i hang the door i put a bead of cauld around the frame where it meets the plexi and you done not to easy but not to hard just have to take your time and not rush things
Re: here we go building a 4 cage rack

thats what i got so far its comming along good but still mess with bulbs trying to get the right temp. On the second cage i have a 75 watt, but i might i have to drop down to a 50 watt and for nighttime 50watt bulb. But its doesn't seem to get as hot with the infrered bulb
