Well, lets just hope that our friend here has a little more compasion for her future medical patients than she does for her snake.

I am still at a loss why she would have bought a snake in the first place seeing how low she views it and its intelligence. Maybe we should try and invent snakey diapers for situations such as this? Snakes just arent smart enough to go use it's proper bathroom in it's cage so their would defineatly be a demand. Then again, one would still need to change the snakes diaper so we're back at square one again

Man, you just can't win with these low IQ reptiles.

When I came back home last week I checked on her, took her out, and found something awful looking on her belly, about the last 1/3 of her I'd say...(near her tail extending up)...

From what I remember, the color was a brownish, and when I felt the area, it was really rough, and it felt scabby, and I was in shock, and confused. Well anyway, I've since been back at school, and my mom told me today she took her to the vet because she was worried, and the vet said it was a burn and is giving her shots/antibiotics and is costing $185 (my bp cost me $30, captive bred and hatched)

Now, not to sound anti-vet, but I'm very mad my mom did this...she didn't tell me before hand, and IMO, is a total waste of money. I told her if she was going to take it to anybody, to take it to a friend of mine who has been working with snakes many years and he could diagnose the problem, etc. and not charge a penny.

Well anyway, I don't see how it can be a burn, because we've had the same setup for 3 months no problem (although I have been helping her shed...taking off areas she couldn't)...it's a 10 gallon glass aquarium, I used to sheets of newspaper, and a UTH...and a rock that is on the cool side (not heat rock) just regular rock...

WOW you have your bp in a 10 gl aquarium! please other loving correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a 10 gl tank tooooooooooo small and wouldn't that cause health problems? also I haven't read any where that there are proper hides and you are not properly keeping track of temps or humidity. IMO you need to read up on bp and fix all husbandry mistakes or please give the snake to some one who will love it and properly care for it. One more thing, kudos to mom for caring enough to take it to a VET and just because you only paid 30$ for the snake that doesn't mean that it's not worth the money to insure it (or any living thing) a long happy healthy life.

Please understand that I'm not bashing you or saying you don't love her. If you can't take her home or care for her find some one who can. There are many many site that offer great care sheets (like this one) read them! Get her a bigger tank, make sure her temps and humidity are as they should be (try a OTH instead of a UTH), try misting the tank. Also check out the links provided on the 4th page of this post to determine burn or rot. It sux about your living situation and I wish you the best of luck and I hope she makes a speedy recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW I just relized she was banned:doh: . My excuse: its 330am here and I posted after reading the first page, it took me 35min to read through every thing. WOW is all I can say. I'm glad she banned and after the IQ post she needs to be stripped of all pets and needs to smak herself in the head :stupidme:. I feel bad for the snake and any poor sole that gets her for a dr.
