Rats versus Mice

I feed both depending on the preferences of the snake. My two biggest females grow better and respond better to rats, so that's what I give them (even though it means going down to the pet store once a week). Luckily I have one on FT...trying with the other.

My smaller BPs eat mice, though I think I'll try switching them to rat pups soon. I know my pastel male will probably take it, but my smallest normal... probably not. We shall see.

My corns all take mice PK or FT right now, but probably would take anything as long as it was a rodent. :)

I currently breed my own mice and am raising some rats to breeding size. I plan on breeding both.

I breed my own rats, and feed only rats to my corns and balls!

I breed rats, so I feed rats. When I bred mice I was just as happy, and even more happy that they would not outgrow me. My lesser grew at a very fast pace on mice so I can say that there has been no change in growth feeding to two. I almost like mice better....

I prefer rats, mainly because I think it will become more convienant as my snakes get older, fuzzies, pups, small, large.. with mice you dont get much to choose from, plus, my pet store here sells mice for 2 bucks, when 1 rat costs 3. So, 2 mice to 1 rat, save a buck, its not alot, but still. Thats a whole 1/4 gallon of gas LOL

I feed mice, because it's very difficult for me to get small rats. I would have to drive at least 1 hour to go get them. Let's say that I could go there and buy 2 or 3 small rats, but I don't like to keep them alive, being that my ball only feeds on live. It works better for me to offer him 2 or 3 large mice a week, no problemo to get mice !
