I just want to clarify something (whether you were directing this at me or not, I still want to clarify ;) ) ....I never once said it was wrong for anyone to stand in line or pay lots of extra money for a gaming system or anything else. I am merely finding amusement in the phenomenon, and expressing a lack of understanding at the mindset of folks willing to do that. My not understanding why someone does something in no way makes it wrong, nor does it even mean I think it's wrong. I just don't "get it."

And actually...having listened to Adam talk about it, I do undertand a little bit better than I did at the beginning of this thread. I know there are folks out there who would be quite vocal at the complete waste of money and "wrong priorities" of my own...for spending four-figures on a snake that looks totally normal.

So I know that feeling goes both ways and comes from all directions. We all have different priorities in life....and different means of providing for needs and wants.

I'll bet the folks spending thousands for a PS3 would think I'm nuts for spending $3k for a mountain bike...or $1200+ for an R/C truck...$300 for a fishing rod, or $1k for a snake :)


It's all in what your into...I personally like to do things that get me off the couch :D

I guess it all boils down to ethics and morals or how we were each raised.

Some people do things for other people for selfish reasons. I've always been taught that a kid that is given everything values nothing.

most of those kids who got everything as kids become adults and learn really quick the value of a dollar! i know my eldest, even though she got everything REALLY appreciated all she had... and then she moved out and appreciates everything even more! :D
