CoolioTiffany is 14? Wow, I'm pretty sure she's given me some good advice before...
I never wanted snakes until after I had moved out and gotten my own place and all...
I was a mature kid, but the thing that I would have to think about is that when I graduated and moved out, it would have been a burden to have any pets. I moved around a lot before settling down- and if you're planning to go to college and possibly move a lot it might be more trouble than you'd want to deal with to have any sort of pet. I dunno, that's just my personal experience.
I remember feeling like my teenage years were forever, but they're not- they don't last long at all. You'll be an adult soon enough and can have whatever you want in your own home. You do need to respect your parents house rules. If you're responsible enough to be a good pet owner, I would respectfully prove it to my parents and just show them that you can handle the responsibility. I mean, saving money is something that I still have a hard time being responsible enough to do, and you're doing that! ;)
Kudos for not being impulsive about it and doing your research first.
