Re: Solana - Our Scaleless Sunglow Motley Corn
Solana ate two nights ago and pooped, so I took her out to clean and to spend some time with Katie. They had some girl time and then it had cooled down a little outside (about 85F) but the sun was still mostly out. I took her out for a minute to see how she would look in that light (I hadn't taken her outside since before her last shed).

NEWSFLASH! She looks freaking incredible! These were spur of the moment pictures and with my iPhone, so they don't quite capture the richness of her colors, but OMG! To think that she's getting richer and brighter with each shed as well! WOW. Can't wait to see her as a big girl!

Additionally, when I put her back, she drank water from her bowl while in my hand and I got video! Not sure if it's her size or because she's scaleless, but her cheeks puff out so big! She's really adorable!

What a beautiful little worm. I'll bet she's going to be even more spectacular as she grows.

    Thanks EL-Ziggy!

She's supposed to get bolder and richer colors as she grows into adulthood. I am not sure how that's possible, but we will see. She is already blinding to look at and almost glows.

So far, every shed has produced brighter and richer coloring. Hoping it lasts, but even it stopped her, DAMN, what a looker!

I sent the pictures to Don Soderberg at South Mountain Reptiles, who produced Solana. He's blown away and cannot believe how rich her coloring is getting. Remember, she's the first Scaleless Sunglow Motley, with Red Factor, corn ever produced. Her brother, who is het for red factor (co-dominant), but doesn't show it, has dark eyes and he's not as vibrant. Don kept him because genetically he will be a great breeder, and he's a male. Solana, although she is visual for red factor, is a female and so he put her up for sale.

Don is watching her grow with me and neither of us know exactly what an adult Scaleless Sunglow Motley Corn with Red Factor will look like as an adult.

He was also shocked when he saw the video of her in my hand and drinking from her water dish.

In response to that video and the pictures I sent, he said, "Cool. She utterly trusts you. That's awesome. Her growth is obvious, every time you show her to me. Great colors. Thanks for sharing."

I told him that all 4 of my snakes will drink while I hold them. There's a reason I have 8 reptiles total and only 4 snakes. I want to spend time with each one and develop trust and a rapport.

I guess breeders aren't able to spend that much time with each animal, so they might never get to that level of trust.

    Solana is now 19G dry!

She gets two pinkies tonight. One small and one regular size. If that goes well, 2 normal pinkies next meal.

WOW is she growing like a weed!

Re: Solana - Our Scaleless Sunglow Motley Corn
I postponed feeding Solana by one day. I spent 4 hours on Friday night with a friend organizing the thermostat probe wires, the power cables for the thermostats, and the heating elements in the Boaphile setup, including running a thermostat for what will be Solana's tank (next to Figment). We mounted the thermostats for the hot sides on the wall next to the tanks and the thermostat for the cool side and Cleo and Solana's thermostat on top of the tanks where they are easily accessible. We also ran all the power cables through the ceiling! The floor is clear and the reptile area feels so much bigger!

Anyway, if you want to see what an nice job we did with that, check out this link at the bottom of the page: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...08#post2640308

Finally, I did feed Solana last night and she took a regular pinkie (about 3G) and a small pinkie (about 1-2G). She was 19G dry this week, and has no scales, so if she was a normal corn, would probably be closer to 20-21G. She easily took the two pinkies and has a nice, but not huge, bulge today (see picture below).

Next feeding I plan to feed two regular pinkies, assuming she digests this meal well.

Here's Solana with a noticeable bulge today.

Solana seems to be digesting nicely. The bulge is shrinking and is almost gone today.

I may feed the same next week and then go to 2 regular pinkies, but I'll see if she's totally digested by tonight.

Here are two pictures of Katie with her "baby" from the other night.

Re: Solana - Our Scaleless Sunglow Motley Corn
Solana seems to have digested her two pinkies (one regular and one small) with little difficulty. She left me a big present (well relative to a 20G snake) tonight, and, wait for it, laid in it! Awesome! Solana got her first bath tonight!

Additionally, her eyes are starting to cloud over again! She shed less than a month ago at about 13G. She's growing fast, and, so far, has had perfect sheds.

I'll update with pictures post shed.

Re: Solana - Our Scaleless Sunglow Motley Corn
Solana is going to shed again soon. I got some pictures of her cloudy eyes tonight, along with her neck area. You can see the skin getting wrinkled and starting to separate. It's very cool. Also, for anyone who's curious, the shed on the bottom feels normal because she has belly scales. The shed from her sides and top of her body is silky smooth.
