Dan Scolaro (DTS Herps)

Too bad FedEx wouldn't take the time to revoke certification (if he has it) based on his admittance on a web forum of sending improperly packaged live animals through the mail. Maybe someone should order a snake, not 'pay for the foam box' and document/notify of the condition of the packaging and labeling it arrives in.

If people want to be outrageous and practice poor business, the burden of reputation checking is on the buyer unfortunately. It's making it hard for an honest person like me who is new to the hobby and doesn't have documented feedback to sell snakes because we're quickly becoming a community of distrust. I can accept that. What bothers me is when people engage in practices that jeopardize the hobby as a whole. I can't believe I'm the only one to focus on improper labeling and shipping - this is an issue that affects people who DON'T do business with Dan.

i have personally emailed him and told him i would GLADLY still send him the 200 that i posted if he can provide ACTUAL EVIDENCE that Justin purchased from him,
still awaiting response. but i dont mind putting a couple bucks up to get the truth out here.

Normally I would agree, but after looking over the Fauna BOI history going back almost 10 years, it's obvious DTS has zero interest in fixing anything.

And how about the email where the quote of Justin came from? There shouldn't be anything dangerous or reveling from screen capping that. When Robin talks with Justin later, he can clarify if it was made up or if he actually said it/bought bloods/whatever.

Exactly Nikki! Wasn't Justin's supposed post on Dan's feedback forum consent for Dan to communicate about the transaction? Why not post the email he sent it in? or how about the Paypal transaction? As my posts show, there's no personal or financial info revealed.

This is actually something I wanted to validate, and I have a way that might work, because I 'know' someone who does sell/donate/trade lots of animals to zoos.

I would believe a series BOI threads LONG before I would believe a sellers own website.

A pattern has been shown, and this seller has proven to have poor customer service
skills. He touts his feedback on his own website as the bible, when he can change
and alter it at will. Everyone that disagrees with him MUST be a crook or extortionist
and they hurt poor defenseless animals JUST to make him look bad, because they
obviously have nothing better to do.

The posts against this seller, all seem to be made by people well established in this
forum, and with GOOD buying/selling records.

That's good enough for me! It's guys like this seller, that give "snake" a bad name.

And the thing that gets me is googling his name pulls up the same types of feedback as this one, in fact pages 32 and 14 respectively pull up as the fourth and fifth Google results (from this thread alone). The first result is bad feedback from over on Reptile Forum. Honestly anyone who's doing business with this guy is clearly not doing any research whatsoever on their seller, or just doesnt care.

These are the kinds of guys that perpetuate the viruses within the hobby.

Alot of the problem is he uses Kingsnake. Over there, there is no feedback forum or rating system. The rule is don't mention businesses in posts on the forums. You're usually good with positive posts (unless a competitor complains) but anything negative is gone quickly, deleted. Dan buys banners and pays to be listed over there so no matter how many complaints they get about him, he stays. Jeff only cares about money and is paranoid about getting involved in lawsuits. To be transparent, yes I advertise my animals there because it gets a lot of traffic. That doesn't mean I agree with his ethics.

Any time some one makes a bad BOI about him this is what happens this guy blows up and starts getting ticked off and wants to slander people. Neal did nothing wrong here but just inform our awesome BP community how he was and what he went thru. Dan thinks that he can just walk all over other human beings and that he can make lies upon lies and do as he pleases and rip off the new comers and small collection owners that don't know better.

Dan, this is our community....we all come here and all of us get along like a big family. We come here for a common interest and all show respect to each other and offer help. There may be a debate here and there but we never get stale about it. You on the other hand are the complete opposite and don't belong within our community and I cant wait till this gets resolved so you don't come back. :salute:

And I'm sure Kingsnake does fine for sane sellers too! That I understand. It's just that googling a seller's name is not difficult, so regardless of where you find a person, a quick Google search, especially in this hobby, can go a long way toward avoiding toxic business and give you the opportunity to go instead with a more reputable source. I'm certainly not putting any blame on anyone who's already had dealings with him, but let this thread, and the others around the Herpers' corner of the internet, serve as a lesson to ALWAYS research your suppliers thoroughly. Regardless of the products involved, if the seller has such a bad attitude, it's probably not worth the risk that cold hard cash supplies.

Number four involves alot of what I've said. He claims people don't read these threads and go elsewhere or if it's something rare like his hots, they just do without. That post and all the other ones like it prove it. You'll notice it really touched a nerve with him whenever I asked how long the rare Australian hots have been on the classifieds. He, also, completely ignored the subject when I asked why he doesn't deal in Ball pythons. Those communities don't trust him and won't buy anything from him even if he's the only source.

Don't expect Dan back for a while. His MO on the BOI was usually to disappear for a while after getting backed into a corner like he has with his lies about Justin. He will be back, though, with the same crap, different day.

Agreed! It is too bad that some don't bother to do the research and as your last sentence implies, some will buy from people like Dan anyway as long as the price is right. It doesn't matter to them how others were treated UNTIL it happens to them.

I would do business with Neal. I respect his opinion and see no reason for him to lie about this transaction. I cannot speak on your virtue Dan, based on any personal experience, but your back peddling and desire to argue says a lot about you. As a business owner, I would understand that the onus would be on me to keep the face of professionalism - you have failed to do that. You have antagonized and gave me the impression that if I were to ever do business with you, and I had a legitimate complaint, my concerns would be met with hostility and avoidance. That's the real issue you should be focusing on.

Tanner: Did you say you had 200 bucks for the truth? Send it to the customer. Your administrator here, Robin, has the proof of sale. Who is this Mr. Tang making false accusations about boxes? Check the thouands of feedback report which point out great boxes and great shipping. Never has one person complained about a box nor has anyone ever received a dead or sick animal. I ship perfect and healthy animals and theres thousands of feedback reports on my web page with proof of that from valid customers and institutions. I would double your order if there was a mistake involved. And of course I antagonized these folks here. What else is there to do when you are attacked on all ends by a mob or people with no proof or evidence? Do you believe Neal or treeboa are telling the truth? Both claim to received perfect animals and woke 4 years later to complain and say they never contacted about a so called mite or resp issue? Robin, I just emailed you a copy in an email. Opens fine in windows. I went to paypal and saved the file and when I click it, it goes to internet explorer and to a webpage on paypal. I have windows so do not know why you cannot open it? Email it to a friend that has windows?

you have windows, use snipping tool, to cut it out, save, then send. that way its not an external link. its an attached picture.

And if he did, then I would of paid for it to be shipped back right away for verification. For all I know, this Critial Jim is a long-lost buddy of that Critical Bill fellow who dropped dead from a heart attack from his fights with me on the BOI and he bought 2 cheap water snakes to come back later and moan they had mites when the photos of the specimens in the water have no mites. I can't beleive I jsut spent the last 3 hours actually reading over all this, but hey it's my weekend!! I'm not sure what else can be said about this less than honest person. I didn't even know about his guy until today. And from what I have read of everything this idiot has said leads me to think he is a true NARCISSIST!!! Well reading this thread on of my main thoughts was I hope he doesn't have kids. Oh man I hope they grow up and learn the right way to treat people. They sure aren't going to learn it from this guy.

You've lost a HUGE customer base with your attitude on this thread. I'm thankful it was posted and that with this site and the BOI I've been able to make my purchases without worry of being scammed or dealing with a bad seller.
