I never really introduced myself here on BP.net. My real name is Star. I am a crazy tattooed, some piercings female who worked her butt off trying to become a teacher. While I have had a lot of discrimination for what I do, I have finally accomplished my goals of being a teacher. I know I don't look like teacher material.... but .... oh well..lol
Here are some pictures of myself. I don't really pose or anything, so don't expect much in the sexy line!! Hahaha.

Somedays I wear my glasses and other days I don't. Just depends on my mood that day! I recently cut my hair off also. It was very long (pass my butt) for a very long period of time. Just needed a change.

Here I am holding the largest chameleon I had ever seen and I am in need of dying my hair...lol
    http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...earth/cham.jpg

This is a few years old but I got to meet Dr. Brady Barr (from National Geographic) and I was overly joyed!
    http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k.../bradybarr.jpg

This is the day I picked up my ETB.
    http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...an/emerald.gif

Back when I was trying to see if I could keep red in my hair. I decided to change the black to red but the red fell out a week later so I decided to keep my hair black. I don't have the eye ring anymore but still have the labret. However, with my job, I have to take the labret out during the week.

This is me after cutting my hair off holding my largest snake - Suriname Red Tail Boa. She currently weighs 13 pounds and around 6 feet long. My husband doesn't take great pictures, which is why I am having trouble finding good pictures..lol

This is me during last Halloween! I LOVE Halloween. I even had a ghost dog in the window! Yay!!! (By the way, I am a true dork).

Newest picture of me holding my newly born niecehttp://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k..._4755403_o.jpg.

Here is my snake tattoo when I got it done:

    After it healed:

Seriously, I have had so many people against what I am doing. Every single time I mention to someone what I am doing and pursuing, I get a "whaaa? What are you going to do with that?" It's been tough so far, but I won't let anyone knock me down!

I admire you for pursuing your dreams as well!

What are you trying to do? It can be very hard sometimes to accomplish your goals. People always seemed to try to hold me back and I spent the whole time fighting to get everything done that I needed to. It took me 5.5 years to get my bachelors. Way too long but I had to work over full time and go to college. Wasn't easy and then I had obstacle after obstacle getting in my way. Finally did it though and proud to know I finished. Keep at it. Don't give up.

Get my PhD, to esentially become a Paleoanthropologist.
Then, naturally, since I've always wanted to teach, and am damn good at teaching, I aim to eventually be a professor.

I have no idea why people are against me on this. Human beings are trying so hard to get to know other planets and other solar systems, when we don't even completely understand ourselves and where we came from!

I took an anthro class earlier this year, it's one of my favorite classes I've taken, and one of my favorite teachers as well. Paleoanthropology has crossed my mind a couple of times.

I'm going for an AA in sociology, and everyone at the day job (working on useless luxury yachts) keeps asking me the same thing - What do you expect to do with that? Well, the nonprofit sector actually pays better than this job, on average, and I'm about to finally send in my app for the Peace Corps as I should be graduating at this time next year. So I either join the Corps for a couple of years, or get a real career that's actually meaningful when I get out of college.

I'd go for a Bachelor's, which would help me out more, but at 35 I'm getting a little old in the tooth, lol - and I don't think I can take Florida for another 4 years, since I'd have to go half-time like I'm doing now.

Best of luck to you. Are you doing any teaching yet, or working as a T.A.?
