I should say that I have friends that have used it to treat their snakes...not the enclosures ..for obvious reasons.
I...myself...would use PAM.

I'm glad to hear your snake is doing better.
Several oils can be used to treat snakes as a temporary measure. Olive oil as pointed out and even mineral oil can be used. Mineral oil is sold by drug store like places. It basically suffocates all the mites. The one bad point is it causes the snake to have a bad shed (only once) after treatment.

Am I the only person that thinks the 'ressurected' snake and the dying snake look nothing alike? O_o
One has almost an albino retic-y kinda look with the more orange but the other looks a lot lighter...
Or maybe I'm just seeing things.

It is the same snake.
Even when I posted the second pictures I said it wasn't the same quality.

You know I heard the warning about "bad shed" after using it, but have never experienced it. One of the snakes I treated was actually just going into blue when he was treated, and he had a perfect shed. The other animal had a normal shed his next cycle as well. (both animals were recieved from the same person).

I agree, when he posted the second pics, I sat and compared the patterns and it sure looks like the same snake to me... That and I recognize one of the mites from both pics...Zoom up and it's waving at the camera...:O:rolleyes:excuse my dryness.

The diluted lystrine soak steralizes any bugs that "escape the oil. Note I do not rub the oil off after I put it on, I leave it on, just do not put it on really thick.
As for the cage, I completely streilize it. There are to many reports of hognose developing neurological issues after being place back into enclosures that were treated with P.A.M. and other similar pesticide treatments. While these are not official reports I refer to, they are fisrt hand accountings from different hobbyist on a hognose forum I am a part of.
All I can say is that this was a poison free method that worked extremely well for me on two animals that were heavily infested. Treated once, repeated in 2 weeks, and haven't seen a mite since.
