I am glad that the vet got moved up and all turned out well. The fact still remains that the vet was NOT visited soon enough. When you ask for help and you get the same answer from everyone, how many times does it take before you do it? Really upset me, but yall prob figured that out. ;)
On another good note a certain person gave me two red reputation tags for different post on this thread. I thank you. Your :number1:
Wait, Red? That cant be good! CHECKING.......NOPE, NOT GOOD! So much for the friend request. They prob did it just cause I from Texas and drive a truck instead of a Hy-Bred, and thats against the rules. Thanks buddy. :tears:
I do believe they may need to change their name. Maybe something like Soft-One, if its not taken.
I do admit that my camouflaged word didn't have to be there. But its since been removed by Big Brother and I doubt most of yall saw it. So getting tagged with red for expressing my, yes angry, but passion filled opinion kinda bothers me. I realize that we have rules here but other than my one word, which this person didnt see, I fell within them. Thats why the post was still there to be read. My intent was not to hurt the persons feelings but show that this was a serious matter that I didnt feel they were handling correctly. I hope in the future they take the forum advice more serious.
However,
This is still America and if I have something to say, you can bet I will say it. Yes, I would even say it to their face(see past post). I am a very opinionated person and I dont back down from my values or beliefs. Plus, nice didnt seem to be working so you have to turn it up sometimes. I find it hard to believe that a single person on here has not been yelled at sometime during their life. If I hurt your feelings with some yelling text(the only way to really show feeling in these post) you should just avoid my post. That way your feelers dont get hurt, and you can save some tissues. :salute:
Im a nice guy but can not stand when an animal is not properly cared for. It really gets my hot. :angered: Sorry for being human.
My feelings are in no way hurt. While I do believe in "you attract more flies with honey than vinegar", I didn't disagree with everyone: that snake should've been taken to an emergency vet as soon as the kink was found. At least taken in next day. But the person needs to be educated about where they can go, because they might not know any emergency vets around. I am SO selective where I take my snakes now, after the first "herp" vet I took my BP to told me 3 times that she had an RI and prescribed 3 times the same meds, even with no improvement from my snake. Finally found a reputable place and they took her back, did some swaths of her mouth and ran some diagnostics (something the other vet never even offered) and lo and behold, it was a fungal infection. She's still on the rocks months later, because I'm sure that not getting it treated in time spread to other issues. It's a hard (and expensive) road.
Basically, when dealing with a story off the internet, I find it's best to ask questions (a LOT of questions) and make sure all your bases are covered and your questions answered before giving my 2 cents. It saves conversations like these. :)
Just letting you know, I don't believe your advice was wrong. I think the way you wrote came off as more hostile than needed. The truth does hurt, but because of that we as the people this person came for for advice need to be able to deliver the truth in as good a way as possible. I know that's what I would hope for if I was in the OP's shoes. :snake:

still waiting for pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:taz:<...that guy is cool lol

I too am anxious to see update pic of this little snake I for no other reason than to get the original horrifying images out of my brain.

I was horrified when I saw the pictures and felt real relief when the OP stated the vet had sorted it. But....
... in the original image there is no tension of the skin between the peaks of the bends.
I.e

If it had been muscles causing a kink of that extreme then the skin would follow lines of muscle tension like this.

The fact that overlaying skin is adhered to muscle tissue and in proportion to normal structure indicates that, as there is no distortion to muscle or skin structure or placement, the problem is skeletal.

But in turn the muscle has to adhere to the bone. I am no expert on BP muscle structure and won't claim to be, but at some point the muscle needs to connect to the bone. That would allow the muscle to move the bone into a position like that.
I hope it isn't skeletal, and I also hope the OP doesn't mysteriously disappear without posting pictures.

No expert here either just wondering it would, I guess appear like cramp with us and how the muscles go tense and protrude a little, looking at the angle of the kink I would expect some muscle to show tension, there is none.
I am hoping too that we all get to see the same snake all better.

I gave you bad rep because I felt the name calling and attacks were unnecessary, although I can understand why you wrote what you did. I'm also very upset to see that poor baby ball so severely injured. I'll believe it's better when I see current pics.
Anyways, I didn't mean anything personal by it.
And for the record, my forum name is a play on my initials, not because I believe I'm awesomely cool lol

It's hard to see anyone's pet in pain or in a situation like yours, and I'm glad it all worked out.
To everyone here, shame! You can't assume anything through text. The OP could've been crying their eyes out as they wrote this, desperate for some reassurance that their baby will pull through. You never know what an owner is thinking, but by just posting on here shows that they knew something was wrong and came to what I think is the best resource on the internet (even for non-reptile problems!). We need to live up to that reputation and have a little less pointing fingers and a little more informing and helping. Yes, getting that snake to a vet ASAP is what needed to happen, but look, that's what they did!! Assuming makes an "a$$" out of "u" and "me"!
To OP, I am so glad your baby will be okay! All I would say is to have a talk with your brother and remind him that Ball Pythons (especially babies) are extremely delicate. If he's only had experience with hots he might have a too-rough approach and should tone it down. The instinct to stop a strike if he's a hot handler might be a no-thought reflex, so some caution might need to be exercised when he's around your little ones.
OK this is very easy to write AFTER you see the results. The bottom line is, we cannot assume the OP was crying/laughing or showing no emotion at all. All we had were the facts: A pic of what appeared to be badly injured animal, an owner to admitted to "poor handling", and letting the snake be held in someone hands while in transit, and what appeared to be a long time to get vet appt for emergency.
Given those facts (not emotions), we cannot try to figure out the OP's mood/feelings, so we responded accordingly. Whether they were sad or not, is not the point. The FACT is the animal needed immediate attention. I am sure the vociferousness of our responses, inspired the OP to insist on an earlier vet appointment. In that sense, BP Net truly served its purpose. An animal was helped, and the OP did the the right thing. Let's get over this "hurt feelings" crap, and be thankful this situation was handled quickly.
BTW, you also cannot know the mood of those of us who responded! Are we not entitled to be angry or upset?

Re: Severe Neck Kink - Help?
WOW! Just spent the past 30 mins reading this @ work. Those pics literally make me cringe. I hope the snake truly is better. Waiting on those pics...
