Parents and reptiles!

My mom would never allow snakes in her house. I'm currently keeping my little sisters' collection with mine until she moves out :D Sometimes there's just no convincing moms. My mom was deathly afraid of snakes. She will come into my snake room, but she's still not found of touching/holding them.

Boasting about being "right" doesn't earn you respect. Your tone in this entire thread has been very harsh. We have quite a few younger members here who are very mature and take extremely good care of their animals. And as Walt pointed out - you are ALSO still just a teen yourself. And others would consider you very young and by the tone of your posts immature.

Doesn't feel so good to be judged by your age, does it?

Take a step back from the thread if it gets you THIS riled up, it's honestly not worth it.

i'm a year and a half into psychology, lol if thats the right spelling, lol hopefuly, since thats my major:P

I am 15 years old, i have a nice collection of ball python morphs and some nice eggs one the way soon. ( females in prelay shed).

I am very mature for my age and have been keeping reptile for 3 years!

i have:
leopard geckos
corn snakes
tortoises
ball pythons ect...

I also have a nice big shed to breed rodents in and i supply all of my local pet shops with live and frozen food, thats what fund the ball python morphs.

I feel that age shouldnt matter too much. If someone is mature enough to care and have the money for snakes ect.. the he should be able to have one.

There are downsides to keeping snakes ( bp ect. ) MONEY, i am unable to go out often, nor buy lots of nice clothes or some other stuff as i have to put money into the reps 24/7.

Thats not something that someone can get used to straight away.

Hahaha, when I was 13 I snuck my first snake into the house (I pulled that trick when one parent says no, and the other says "yes but don't tell your mother it was my idea"). My mom found out about a week before xmas, and didn't talk to me until she unwrapped her presents. My dad, who was all for the reptiles in the house and who was probably feeling guilty that he took me to buy the snake, took me to banana republic so I (he) could buy her a really nice jacket. She told me I could keep the snake, as long as it would be the only one. Turns out she fell in love with them, and by the time I was 16 I had two corns and my mojave.

It was a stupid thing to do though, and I don't ever reccomend sneaking an animal into the house when your parents have already said no. My sister did it with a cockatoo about a year after the snake incident thinking she could get away with it too, and my parents kicked her out (she was 19, though, and had a place to go... and that bird destroys everything).

Moral of the story, if they say yes and you know with 100% certainty that you'll take care of your snake, then go for it. But, if your parents or parent says no, don't do what I did. You might end up living somewhere else like my sister :P

My parents let me have anything as long as it fits in MY room and (if it's a fish tank) doesn't break the floor.

Well I come from a southern baptist family who are a bunch of religious fanatics, My dad killed every snake he saw in the yard, poisonous and non poisonous because he said they were evil, lol. The matter wasnt ever really discussed in the house even though I always wanted one really bad, Once I told them that I wanted a gecko and he told me lizards are just snakes with legs:rofl:. Now he thinks im going to burn in hell forever because I own one.:weirdface

My mom absolutely loves them. My dad.....not so much. However, I think he is starting to warm up to Sherlock. :snake:

Do let get to you. Im 12 and I breed morphs. Just do your research and save some money. I started off with around $250 for a pair of spider and normal with tubs that I made myself using a $5 bin from walmart. Don't stop wanting them I convinced my parents and if you want to breed it's really addicting. Lie to your parents and say your only getting one.
