What would you do in my situation?
Ok so maybe I'm just freaking out for nothing but here's my situation. I contacted a guy on Fauna about trading a couple female spider balls for some of the animals I had available. Everything went well as far as communication goes and we agreed to ship them the same day. Well I shipped mine out yesterday (8-18) and the tracking says they were delivered at 9:03 this morning. It's now 7:30pm and I've got NOTHING. I tried contacting him and haven't heard anything back. I don't have his phone #, only e-mail address, which is how I've been trying to get a hold of him. I feel sick and very  What would you guys do? any advice?:tears:

i would keep emailing him and tell him if you do not get your animals than you will.... do smoething lol.. you have his adress and his name. look it up on whitepages.com and ull get his #.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
i would give him a day and keep emailing him. The whitepages thing is a good idea except a lot of people have cell phones now so you might not have much luck looking him up
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Did you find anything on him on the BOI? It doesn't sound good since there is a sudden break in communication on shipping day. Good luck!

He didn't have anything on the BOI, I checked. I tried the whitepages thing and I'm not finding anything.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Go to the BOI NOW.
Post ALL the info you have including all emails.
In this game of "screw the" you are the pooch.
Hopefully they can help you out over on fauna.
For the record and not to rub it in but NEVER ship without a valid phone number, one that you have called and spoken to the person you actually called and NEVER ship on the same day the first time you do business with someone unless they are highly recommended by well respected fellow hobbiests.

I second that idea. There's a good chance he has had dealings with some folks there as that's where you discussed the trade.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Sounds like you got the short end of the stick. I personally would never do that type of business with anybody who doesn't have a really high reputation. I would never ship first on anything either, because of all the scammers they have out there, but hopefully in your case everything works out.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
lol, ok I suggest you read this http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=143847 my name on fauna is exitree. Just before my last post I got a call back from the guy and for lack of a better term I "reamed him a new one" I told him that I was going to contact the local authorities and file fraud/theft charges. Right after this I recieved 2 messages from him
Heartlash Cinder-08-20-2009, 03:18 AM
Im really sorry I didnt ship them yet. I was going to ship them on my break but as I was leaving my boss needed me to stay. I promise that I will have them shipped out tomorrow morning. This is my number I have to put minutes on it in the morning 1-603-930-3261 also give me your number and I will call you right after I ship them. Thanks.

Also forgot to mention I dont always have a computer thats why I didnt answer you earlier. I use either a friends computer or my works computer. I used to use my phone thing as a computer but it got to expensive. I swear I will have the package shipped out tomorrow and you will get it on friday.
edit: as I wrote this he messaged me again
As soon as I get up tomorrow I will pack them up and run down to the post office and get them sent out. Then as soon as im down ill get you the tracking number.

I guess we'll see. Like I said as long as I get the 2 female spiders I was promised I'll be "happy"
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Hmmmm, he WAS going to ship them on his break, which does imply that they were already packed, though it does not assure that this is so.
NOW he's going to pack them and ship in the morning, yet he was there to receive yours today but, he was at work and couldn't leave??
You need a tracking number and weight on the box tomorrow morning and even then there is no guarantee your snake will be in the box.
Take pictures before and during the opening of the box, if you get one.
What's the guys name? I want to know who to watch out for.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
So he's going to run down to the Post Office to ship via USPS? Well seeing as the animals you sent him were already put up for sale he seems to have more free time on his hands than he is letting on.
-

"As soon as I get up tomorrow I will pack them up and run down to the post office and get them sent out. Then as soon as im down ill get you the tracking number."
I dont think the post office accepts retile shippments.
I also agree with Wes's thread, seems like alot of excuses. This dude seems really shadey. I do hope everything works out. I've been burnt twice and its not a great feeling.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Too many variables don't add up.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
They where already on the classifieds again? Oooo... Thats not good... the guy is shady and stupid.. Hope it works out. Let us know if there is anything we can do...
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
From reading the BOI thread, he sounds like a big number 2.
If the one poster was correct that he is very young, possibly under 18 years of age, he should have parents that can be contacted.
Again, sorry this is going on. Please keep this thread updated, but starting posting everything you know about this guy on the BOI. Age, location, number, emails... you get my drift.
I hate scammers, and I do hope this was a misunderstanding, but yea... Also if things don't clear up by tonight, wouldn't be a bad idea to get in touch with his local police department. Just a thought.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
If someone gives me their phone number but tells me I can't call until they "put minutes on it", they are someone I won't deal with.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Any news? Did this guy ship them out today? I'm so sorry you have to deal with someone like this. Hope everything turns out well and hopefully he's just a slacker and not a scammer. BTW where is he located, cause I know "a guy" :matrixfig...

And after all, putting something on Craigslist IS the definition of scammer....

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Well he sent me a tracking # this morning but when I went to the ups site and checked it, it still says "Billing Information Received". Also according to the tracking page it says the package is being sent via ground. I sent him another message regarding these 2 issues but am still awaiting a reply.
BTW- He's located in NH

Very sorry about everything that has happened, but just out of curiousity, what all did you send him?
BTW for future reference if this ever happens to anybody and the person is located in La, if they're within driving distance, I will resolve the issue for a small fee. lol

lol thanks for the offer:gj: I sent him an adult Jungle/Coastal carpet(unknown sex), a pastel male, blood python male, 2 leos, and a beardie. I was planning on selling/trading all of them anyways and figured I'd be losing a little trading them for 2 09 female spiders, but didn't think I'd be losing THIS badly:confuzd:

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Well the shipping status just changed. I turns out that actually did ship the package via GROUND!?! The estimated delivery is 8-25, that's NEXT TUESDAY!!:O I'm hoping and praying that the babies inside will be okay and arrive here unharmed, or even ALIVE for that matter:tears: Gaagh how can people be so stupid??:frustrate

Wow. This is not good. 5 days in a box could end up being a real problem. If he even put animals in and didn't send an empty box. What a piece of trash...
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
WOW. This dude needs to get nailed in the head with the baseball bat of intelligence...
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
That guy seems to be pretty new on the scene...at least online. He only has one post on Fauna and it's a classifieds ad.
If he shipped animals that way I'm sorry but I have to agree with Jamie. I hope it works out for you, but that really isn't good.

Hopefully everything goes fine. Hope this doesn't turn out to be a huge problem either. 5 days in a box seems kind of, harsh, doesn't it?

x2
Again, hope the snake arrive ok.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Call the shipper and ask if you can speed up the delivery by paying whatever fees are necessary.
If you have to ask to talk to a supervisor before you hang up.
I don't know if you can, but it's worth checking.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Good Luck dude... Keep us all updated. This guy sounds like a big idiot.

By shipper I meant the company doing the actual transporting, not the bozo who sent you, hopefully, your snakes.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Keep us updated, I really hope everything arrives ok. I don't really see how anybody could be so stupid to shipping animals.

I was going to post this, I have done it with UPS before. I hope everything works out for you.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Ya, that sounds like the best course of action. Just call and explain to them that you NEED to get that box speeded up.... Hope everything turns out well for you can you get your pair of nice, heathly spiders.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
I hate to say this but I think you will receive a package with nothing in it or maybe just useless weight. The way things seem to be going with this guy I highly doubt he sent the snakes. I think he just wanted you off his back for five days. I hope I'm wrong and that everything goes well and you receive your spiders in perfect health.

That's what I was thinking...Good Luck!

I tried this and called UPS and was told that once they have a packages sent out on a service level they don't have a procedure in place to upgrade or downgrade the shipping method. So all I can do now is hope they're ok and arrive safe. I will be video taping my opening the box when it gets here on Tuesday.

Call them back. Tell them there is a live animal in the box that will die if they can't help you out. A suggestion would be to call Robyn @ Pro Exotics. He has a contract with UPS for shipyourreptiles and likely has an account rep who can help him out. Maybe he would be willing to make a call. Just a thought. Don't give up though. Do what you can to save the animals (if there are any in there at all).

If you didn't talk to a supervisor, do so now. Explain that the kid sent live animals ground and that they'll be dead when they get there if nothing is done.
Don't talk to a flunky, they have no pull.

Re: What would you do in my situation?
Another option may be to have it held in one of the cities it has to go through to make it to your destination. Find out what those cities are and maybe there is a forum member willing to help out and pick it up and reship if necessary. I know I would do it in a heartbeat.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
I just got off the phone again with a supervisor who told me the same thing. Once the package is in transit, they can't upgrade the shipping method. I explained the severity of the situation and asked why they can't just call the station the shipment is being held at and have them put it on a next day air. I told them I'd pay any fees for whatever could be done, and still the same thing. As of right now they're stuck in Manchester, NH:tears:
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
There are members from the NH area here. Maybe one would be able to get the package if you can have it held. If someone can do that for you, I will pay for Priority Overnight for it to be shipped to you.
-

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the offer, but I don't know many people here and wouldn't even know where to begin looking for someone who would be willing to do something so generous.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Are the animals being held in Manchester? If so, how long will they be there for?
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
My god. This guy sounds like a real tool. I'll bet he shipped it UPS cause he's probably not even certd to ship reptiles. I'm hoping for you and them, you actually get two live snakes ...but in case you don't get live ones ...:tears:.... I would nail this guy for cruelty to animals....among other things. The heat is really bad.

I'm not sure how long they'll be there, as of right now that's the most up to date info I have on where they are, but for how long? I don't know.
-
Re: What would you do in my situation?
Call them and find out if they can put an emergency hold on them and if someone else can pick them up for you.

That's what I'm talking about! :gj:
Don't take no for an answer. If they say no, ask for a supervisor. Be very clear that there are animals in there that are going to die. Tell them you want to find out if they can be held in Manchester for someone local to pick up.
-

Give me the tracking number, your phone number and address and I'll see if I can help out.
Just PM me if you like.
