LA Ink callback

I got a callback to meet with the people at LA Ink about getting a tatoo on their show. My plan is to design an original tatoo with a pic of and orchid(see below) with a bumble bee BP wrapped around it. I dont have any good picks of BP's wrapped around anything so if you have a good one post one up.

and my thought is the bumble bee wrapped around it in constrict mode.

If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears. This will be a shoulder tat.

Here is a design I did quite sometime ago. I need to have it professionally drawn and colored, seeing as I'm not so good at coloring. :oops:

It's supposed to be a Ball Python wrapped around a rose. :)

Dude show up to the interview with one of your snakes and they will be all like " man this guys edgy we should put him on" lol goodluck though.

Nice! A friend of mine is friends w/ the guys from the original Miami Ink. He was featured on their show when he had a piece done. You can see pics of his work on my myspace, his name is Gordon

Now I'm thinking maybe a pied. They are both(bumble bee and pied) the morphs that made me fall in love with these snakes. No constricting pics folks?

That's a good concept to combine your hobbies. :gj: If you could get someone to give it a Japanese style I think that it would be sharp as both flowers and serpents look really nice that way.

Any examples? Not sure exactly? I think chinese dragons in my head when I think asian tattoo art?

I like the concept of the orchid and the bp. I don't know about the idea of the snake constricting the flower though. It just doesn't seem natural to have a snake constricting a flower... I think it would be more pleasing and relaxing to the eye to have the snake around the flower, but in a relaxed posture.

Just my 2 cents...

That is true and a very good idea;)

I would stay away from a pied, especially if you were planning on getting a high white. White inks don't hold well depending on some people's skin. I think the pattern of a bee will transfer over to a tattoo a lot better than the randomness of the pied also.

Are you planning or going color or black and gray?

Don't know how big your going on your shoulder but you could have multiple orchids with the snake slithering in the background or through them.

Just some ideas but your best bet will be to just have the artist draw something up

Thats is a good idea too Rick thanks, I wanted the snake to go over the red flower because I thought it would have better contrast than on my fairly pale skin color.

on the other had i like the idea for the tattoo but not where your getting it. you are going to end paying a fortune to get something done permanently on your body by a mediocre artist who are pretty overrated and the only reason many ppl think they are good is because they got there own tv show. I used to have a list somewhere that had the top 100 tattoo artists in the united states and none of the people on Miami Ink or LA Ink arent even on the list when you will spend half as much money for something that will look much nicer in the end. try looking on http://www.bmezine.com/ just some of the pics on there are nsf but you have to click there to see them and i think that bme also had the list of the top 100 tattoo artists in the us on it from what i remember. i personally dont think it is worth the money you will pay to even get it done on tv unless it was the best artists in the world. but then to each his/her own

o yea if you think this is a rant about tattoo's its not i do have some of my own.

lastly is i love the idea of the tattoo and wanna see what it looks like drawn up

I would be very picky about what artist does your work. If I were in the market for a high-dollar tattoo (which translates to a high quality one from my experience) I would go for Capobianco, Booth, Bob Tyrell.. If you're comfortable with the artists' work on the show, and know who's doing your tattoo, and that's your choice, then that is fine. But if they're charging a huge price just to be on the show, IMO I would pass on it and spend the money on a world renowned artist who does not need to be on tv. (if you can get an appointment!) I know that Kat admitted on Miami Ink to only really being great at portraits, and that she liked to shy away from other work.. not sure how she is now really. I know that Hannah Aitchison on the show, is the sister of the phenomenal tattoo god Guy Aitchison, and she's pretty damn talkented from what I could see, though if I had the $$ I would get an appointment with her brother.. the man is ridiculous!

I am meeting with them on Tuesday and if the price is outrageous I will probably pass. We shall see;)

sooooo what happened? just so you know... orchids do not always translate very well as tattoos... then tend to look a bit... well ... to put it gently in this family friendly forum... like woman's privates.

I got a second callback from the casting folks and it looks like I will be on the show. I will be meeting with the artist in two weeks. Price is very reasonable.

Aleesha there are 100's of different kinds of orchids, I'm going with a Red Cattaleya, so I think it shouldn't be Xrated.
Although having a snake over it might bring you mind back in the gutter LOL:rofl:

I haven't had a chance to catch that show in awhile but I do love her color work. I think she's the perfect choice!

that I was a mod on Ball(dash)pythons(dot)net
Its all about the passion for the animals and how I enjoy giving back to the reptile community which has given me so much.
