A Sterling Clutch (For rabernet) - DUW
Actually this isn’t just for Robin but she has always been so complimentary of the Pewter’s I hatched a couple of years ago I thought I would publicly thank her. :gj: The Male Pewter is the Father of this clutch and I think you will agree that he did a mighty fine job of his first try at Fatherhood. It was a four-egg clutch from the Male Pewter to a Female Pastel (I produced a few years ago), breeding. It was a small clutch but I got two Sterling’s and a Pewter out of it. There was also a Normal in the clutch but hey I am not going to complain. I was pretty happy. LOL

Here are some pictures of the parents.

Mom (A Killer Graziani Line Pastel I produced).

Dad (My Bad Ass Pewter Male).

Here is one of the breeding that produced the clutch.

Here are the eggs the day they started to pip and after I had opened them. I was more than a little excited after seeing this.

Here is the first Sterling the day it came out of the egg. It’s a Male.

Here is the other Sterling. It’s a Male also.

This is weird, I waited about ten days and none of them showed any signs of shedding so I started offering them food. They all ate after the second offering. It took a Month and a day before they all shed. Here are the pictures of them after their first shed.

    The first Male Sterling.

The other Male Sterling. This one is my favorite. He will be staying here with me.

Man, a whole lot of possibilities with that pairing. A sterling to pewter pairing could possibly throw the following if i am correct.

    - Cinnamons
    - Super cinnamons
    - pastels
    - super pastels
    - Pewters
    - Sterlings
    - Silver bullets

... and i have no clue what a super pastel/super cinnamon pastel would be called or if it is even possible. A super pewter pehaps?

Albey, your pewters are some of the nicest I've seen - so when people ask about them, then yours are definitely the ones I think about.

I would love to come visit you some time, since we're practically neighbors!

Congratulations on an awesome clutch!!!! :D

I would like to thank everyone for the compliments so far. I am very happy with the clutch but mostly for the second Sterling. Both of them are killer looking (the Pewter isn’t too bad either LOL), but he is just a bit more special. I can’t help looking at him at least ten times a day he is just so awesome. Having just recently seen what a really light Super Pastel does when bred to just a normal Pastel I cant wait to see what this guy is going to throw for me. Having come from a background of selective bred Leopard Geckos I really think the future for Ball’s is going to be in selective bred animals also. He is going to be a great addition to the arsenal.

Thanks a lot Robin. Hey, I am less than a mile from the Druid Hill’s exit off of 85. Any time just let me know in advance. Most of the Georgia Leopard Gecko people have been here. I don’t have much in quantity but the ones I have are pretty special. (You have to see the Pastel Yellow Belly’s I hatched out earlier this year. They are so cool.)

He was around 900 grams; the Female was just at 1600. He is around 1050 now and she is about 1800.

That's beautiful. The Sterlings are my favorites of all the pastel and cinnamon crosses. Better then pewters, better then super pastels, better then super cinnamons, better then either of the base morphs. I don't think I could ever get tired of looking at one of those.

I'm confused, I thought that with double codoms you only get one of the genes passed down, like if you bred a pewter to a normal you would get cinni/blacks and pastels(and normals of course) I thought that if i bred my pewter to my pastel I would get pewters, Cinnis, super pastels, and pastels. Not get Sterlings... Someone help please. Does this mean that if I breed my Pewter to my Pin I'll get pewter pins? I'm confused

Pewter to Normal can also produce Pewters. Pewter to Pastel can produce Sterlings. If you breed your Pewter to a pin you can produce Pewter Pins. Pretty cool isn’t it? :gj:

this is weird, I have spend hundreds of hours reading everything I can on ball morphs... And now it feels like everything I know is a fallacy. I better do a bunch more studying on the punnitt. Thats kick ass news tho.:gj::banana::gj: I was underestimating this whole time! Does anyone have a pic of a pewter pin?? Or even a cinni pin?
