I was a bad girl.. (new snake pics!)

Well, I went to a reptile show today with the intention of not buying any snakes. Well, you know how that goes.

I found a beautiful male green anaconda. I have wanted an E. murinus for a long time.. the price was right, the snake is beautiful and appears very healthy.. he is also fairly laid back (he did bite the guy once but.. hey, it's a conda!)

So.. here's the beautiful boy! Needs a name..

he's sooo shiny he almost looks like the "slimey" snake we all hear about LOL

The pictures suck.. he's really light olive green actually. He makes #36 actually.

na cue's an aweful name for a snake... :puke: but then... if he is olive green... and light... perhaps cue would be fitting :giggle:

i admire you April! i showed my girlfriends pix of you hold one of your bloods, and she was in awe! she thought this was a man's hobby! Not at all, i explained to her. great snake! :sunny: ------keep us posted, with pix!

lol.. I tend to surprise people. One of the vendors at the show seemed to have trouble believing that I had boas.. then I told him I had 5 red tails.. and 30 other snakes. He was surprised.

i know what you mean april. people look at me weird sometimes when they find out i have lots of tarantulas and snakes...

and then they find out i do the care - not my hubby... :P usually they comment something like "no wonder you stay at home and don't work at the petstore anymore... you have your own at home!"

Names...I was thinking something like Verde (green in Spanish) or maybe Verdi as in Giuseppe Verdi, kinda of the word verde...

I'll offer him food next feeding day.. ;) The guy said he eats f/t rats no problem. The snake is around 5-6' long.. kinda hard to tell in the pictures.

Which show did you go to?

It's a brand new show.. this was the first one. It's at the lake county fairgrounds.. going to be once a month.

If I had the room and more hands on big snake handling, I'd get a yellow male anaconda. Very cool though!

Male yellows don't get big at all.. comparable to a colombian red tailed boa (some of those get bigger than male yellows)

They're cool snakes.

The guy said he had him for 4-5 years. He got him as a baby.

Well.. not anything for sure yet. A few contenders:

Nereus - a water god of greek mythology

Odhran (pronounced o-rawn) means 'little pale green one' ..hey it fits.

Well this was the first time the show was there.. so it was pretty small. I would say between 10-15 vendors were there. There were leopard geckos, crested geckos, ball pythons (morphs too.. I saw pinstripes, mojaves, spiders, an albino, and a pied as well as a bunch of pastels) a bunch of colubrids.. there were two vendors with tarantulas and scorpions.. a vendor with frozen and live feeders, and a vendor with some good husbandry supplies.

Lovely colors on that one April! Congrats on getting him! :D

Yeah I'd highly doubt I'd have a 2-man team to help with a green so I'd stick with a yellow. Plus chicks dig conda bites :D

lol.. well the guy had a pretty decent conda bite today.. dripping blood everywhere. Little kids were getting a bit worried.. lol

Yes, he's my first green annie.. and other than a cinny or mojave ball will most likely be the last snake I get until I am able to move out.
